“It is only the man who is freed from the shackles of seeking the praise of his fellow-mortals
“who will be free to be used by God in shepherding and overseeing God’s people. …
“When the Master smiles, what are men?”

"If we're going to stand in the presence of God and not be incinerated by His holiness, we need a positive record of righteousness credited to our account. Which means we need a substitute who not only dies in our place but who also lives in our place." — Mike Riccardi #TMSChapel https://t.co/BnTVW4EAT7

“On the other hand, some people with the pretense of mildness and patience are content to hear God dishonored, His servants scorned, and religion disgraced.
“But cursed be the mildness that causes us to betray God’s glory and truth by holding our peace and winking at those who offend. …
“This mildness is the bastard child of pride, the mother of evil. It causes them to seek courtesy and the praise of men by betraying the glory of God.”
— John Downame
Unless Yahweh builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for He gives to His beloved sleep.
— Psalm 127:1-2
