Design Thinking & Entrepreneurship students are using the Design Thinking cycle by partnering with our food services manager. The prototype stage is a way to get feedback on their idea through a creative visual, and this lunch combo proposal did not disappoint! 🥪 🍪 🥒
This semester DTE worked with two local businesses, LaBowls and Paleonardo’s, to help them solve some current challenges. Using design thinking, students came up with ideas/designs around improving their online marketing, advertising, the menu, and increasing return customers.
The eighth grade team battled hard against an Intown rival tonight, overcoming a tough first set to win 2-1 against the Jr. Knights. Comebacks are the story of the week! 🧡🏐🖤
Our final visit to the Flying Spoon showed how each student used design thinking to help this local business improve a current problem or challenge. From social media, to interior design, to finances, each student presented a unique idea/design to the business owner.

Top 4️⃣ for the other class: a drone to stop distracted driving 📱, an app to help homeless cats 🐱 , an airbag system for outside the car ☁️ , and a ring to help keep track of items ⭕️
Graphic design had their midterm performance assessment inspired by Shark Tank, and these 3 received the most investments from the “sharks” 🦈 (aka, their classmates!). A first aid app ⛑️, a machine to block noise pollution 📢 , and a better way to clean up after your dog 💩
I am so proud of my DTE students for competing in @PointParkU’s Pitch Competition! We had one team make it to the final round to share their pitch with the client: The Children’s Museum! 👏🏻
DTE visited Dupe’s Scoops to get feedback on our prototype designs and enjoy some tasty treats! 🍦 We’re ready to move into the final stages of Design Thinking for this project! 💡
It’s been a busy week in DTE meeting with our local business clients! Students presented protypes via @canva to share ideas for Muxie, and then learned about Dupe’s Scoops in an initial client meeting!
