@atrupar@acoyne Look, it’s cringe-inducing, and not a proud Canadian moment. But Carney gets what has been obvious since 2016: that Trump’s policy decisions are entirely a function of who flattered him last and best. If ass-kissing gets a policy win for Canada at the expense of pride, so be it.
@AbroadInJapan@premier_two Part of me says “I hope they streamed this and I can see it”. The better part of me says “I hope this wasn’t streamed and this was just a genuine get-together of good friends just like normal people”
@GaryMarcus I’ve been shouting into the wind for some time now that, as I’ve put it: GenAi -at its core- is not designed to give you the right answer; it’s designed to *please you* with the answer, and those are very different things.
@CDawgVA@AbroadInJapan You haven’t seen Jackie Brown??? Run, don’t walk to see that next. It’s the one Tarantino film he didn’t write (Elmore Leonard novel), but it’s the most underrated in the Tarantino canon. Pam Grier and Robert Forster are magic together.
This is the best summary of the current geopolitical situation I have seen. Sir Alex Younger was head of MI6 between 2014 and 2020. Really worth watching.
@ianbremmer@RadioFreeTom I’m sure I’m late to the party observing this, but: Canada has an unelected female head of state with no executive authority, and has had an elected female head of government with all executive authority. Surely that nets out to the same thing in any book.
@BradMossEsq Lots of people saying ‘good’ in your replies, but all I know is that she wrote the article. That doesn’t imply that she had any part in the decision to publish it early and break the embargo. What am I missing?
