I also find vehement anti piracy arguments interesting because I pirated exactly one book by an author i had never read 8 months ago. I now own 11 physical copies of her work, and a few ebooks too, all bought legally. I have a whole shelf of her work right now.
Supporting authors is great, supporting libraries are great, but I feel like a lot of the vitriolic pushback against book piracy, which i do not see with other media at nearly the same amount, is lacking much nuance.
I do think it's interesting, people tend to not realize that on average people who pirate actually tend to spend more on media and entertainment then people who don't pirate at all.
Can't articulate it well other then no books are free from criticism but too many people, men especially, seem unable to separate their critique from the underlining misogyny about romance novels and women's interests
