@jboogie In the early days it was HCD and usability.
Usability + tangibility if the term UI.
And actually I don’t think UX had really been coined then. (That’s my own anecdote not researched.)

@jboogie Ignorance of domain(s) - a common frustration in comments here. I add; design was never a relatable term in business (early web). You can point to things that make up a UI so it makes it tangible, so clump them together (perhaps partly to confuse and say - we designers got this)
