USISPF, in partnership with the @IndianEmbassyUS in Washington, D.C., and the @SilveradoPolicy Accelerator, was proud to host a high-level roundtable on "Securing the Foundations of AI Together: U.S.–India Cooperation from Minerals to Microchips” in Washington, D.C.

Following India becoming the 10th signatory to the historic Pax Silica Declaration at the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, the discussion brought together diplomats, policymakers from both governments, and industry leaders working on semiconductors, AI, quantum technologies, and critical minerals.

This discussion prepared the Indian delegation for the #PaxSilica summit in Washington, D.C. The conversation focused on advancing bilateral collaboration to secure critical supply chains, accelerate AI innovation, and build economic resilience.

USISPF President & CEO Dr. @MukeshAghi kicked off the discussion, highlighting how microchips and critical minerals are the elixir of the modern economy and will define who runs the 21st century.

Consulate General of India, Houston is pleased to join the University of Houston and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for the formal signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further collaboration through academic programs in instructions research and faculty development among the faculty and students of both institutions reflecting our shared commitment to knowledge, inclusion, and global engagement.

This agreement builds on the vital role played by alumni and academic leaders in both countries in nurturing long-term partnerships and creating opportunities for young scholars and innovators.

Consul General D.C. Manjunath underlined that such collaborations are key pillars of the India–U.S. higher education partnership and are fully aligned with India’s National Education Policy focus on internationalization of higher education and global academic mobility. He emphasized that sustained academic engagement, mobility of students and faculty, and joint research ecosystems are central to fostering meaningful people-to-people ties between India and the United States. He also urged both the institutions to establish a feedback mechanism to evaluate progress on implementation of the Understanding.

CGI, Houston enjoys deep and growing linkages with leading U.S. educational institutions, including the University of Houston. Notable initiatives include the ICCR-supported Chair for Indian Studies at UH, with a specific focus on Tamil language, collaboration on geoscience data, including the establishment of a major data repository in partnership with directorate General of Hydrocarbons, showcases how academia and industry can work together to support energy security and cutting-edge research.

To advance the role of education in Viksit Bharat 2047 and explore partnerships under India’s National Education Policy (NEP), the USIBC–Duolingo English Test Roundtable convened leaders from industry, government, academia, think tanks, and universities. The discussion underscored how AI and technology are reshaping learning pathways and international education partnerships — marking the start of an important dialogue.

Participants highlighted the growing importance of a modern assessment ecosystem in expanding access to education and skilling, noting that for a country as large and diverse as India, AI can be a powerful access-multiplier.

Earlier this year, NTX teen, Sachchit Balamurugan, an incoming senior at TOPS, flew to Japan to present his ACC cancer detection app at the International Young Researchers’ Conference.

“I spent months learning new tools, cleaning datasets, and running tests,” he said. “Since it was genetic data, I had to find a way to develop a model that could check for key things to predict the cancer through it and discover the top biomarkers used in the classification of the cancer. Despite the setbacks, that process led me to discover a novel potential biomarker for ACC, making all the struggles worth it.”
