The Forum of Palestinian Journalists announced on Friday the martyrdom of Alaa Hashim, who succumbed to injuries sustained in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City amid ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement.

The NGO mourned Hashim and denounced the international community’s silence and failure to protect Palestinian journalists. It also called for ensuring journalists can carry out their work in line with international laws and humanitarian conventions.

Israel has halted all aid shipments into Gaza, blaming Hamas for refusing to extend the first phase of the ceasefire under a US-backed proposal.

Netanyahu’s office said the decision comes after Hamas rejected a deal that would have extended the truce through Passover and Ramadan, allowing for additional hostage releases.

Israel has warned of "further consequences" if Hamas does not agree to the proposal, while also claiming that enough aid has entered Gaza to sustain Hamas for months.
