I used to joke as a Muslim: “God doesn’t have a wife—how can He have a son?”
It sounded blasphemous. But no one explained this:
In Semitic culture, “son of” doesn’t mean biological. It means identity. Same nature.
Son of Man = fully human.
Son of God = fully divine.
That’s why in John 5:18 they tried to kill Jesus, not for healing, but because calling God His Father meant He was making Himself equal with God.
What used to offend me was this: I am messy. Totally human. The idea of a perfect God stepping into my mess felt wrong. Almost humiliating.
But I had it backwards. He wasn’t lowering Himself out of weakness. He was stepping down out of love. Because I wasn’t climbing my way to heaven. So, God came down - not as a rulebook, not as religion - but as a Son.
As a Savior. God didn’t get married. He revealed His nature.
And when I finally saw it, it didn’t make Him smaller or weaker. It made Him infinitely more powerful and beautiful.
Two nights ago I was vibe coding an app and I planned to work from 9pm till 11pm ish. However, I kept at it till 6:30am when I eventually closed my laptop to sleep. Partly because I kept re-iterating on my prompts and partly because I enjoyed seeing what I was building come to life.
The next morning I was thinking about how even though I spent about 9 hours at a stretch working on the app - and to be honest, I made considerable progress - it still felt like a lot had to be done. Some pages weren't complete, even the ones that were had issues with alignment, font size, colors, and also the backend logic hadn't even started.
Then my thought switched to devotion with God and how we might not truly know the essence of spending much time with God. We spend a few minutes a day when we wake saying a simple prayer, and maybe 2 hours in church on Sundays and things seem to go perfectly in our lives; business is booming, we're getting promotions, health has never been better and we're tempted to think that that is enough.
But this draws a parallel to the app, even when I spent the entire night building it, and even had really beautiful pages, it was still obvious that there was a lot to do, especially on the little things. And to get a perfect app, I knew I still had tons of hours to dedicate to it. So even though in 9 hours I could get a beautiful dashboard, a nice landing page, or a functional checkout page, I knew that there was a lot of work to do on the seemingly inconsequential things so the app doesn't break.
In that way, spending time with God is non-negotiable. You might see the daily quiet time or stretches of retreat as unnecessary since you're doing just fine with the barest minimum, but there are a lot of minute and inconspicuous things the God wants to fix to make you complete and mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
This is first a lesson to me, and then to you. Because I've often looked at people who hustle and struggle, spending so much time in devotion yet on the outside it seems like they're wasting their time, while I say a minute of prayer and God keeps blessing me abundantly.
In time spent, God is fitting the little pieces together, re-iterating after you fall, and enjoying transforming you into a perfect man.
In a truth, the devil is in the details; and the detail is taken care of in your devotion with God.
@sin4ch 2. On your arrival to camp, there may be a few new documents you'll have to print out.
3. You'll definitely pay for stuff, unless you want to take with you a boatload of cash, which isn't advisable
@sin4ch Bro, you are going to need your phone.
1. You are going to be added to a platoon and the primary means of communication is via WhatsApp. You might not be lucky enough to have a roommate from the same platoon.
