@FredrikKarrholm Otänkbart att Moderaterna förlitar sig på röstfusk för att stoppa en verklig majoritet från att värna Sveriges intressen. Sveriges innovationskraft bygger på den förutsägbarhet som övergångsregler ger.

nice to see YC looking at sweden. we currently have a solid tech ecosystem.
an important thing many outside investors may not realize: sweden is currently tightening immigration rules quite aggressively. in trying to fix past policy mistakes, the government is pushing through reforms that are already affecting thousands of non EU tech workers.
i'm an american design engineer. i've lived in sweden for 5 years. several senior developers i know at klarna and spotify are now planning to leave. our citizenship applications are being cancelled and the government is now proposing to make our permanent residency revocable too.
several industry groups are warning this could make sweden less attractive for international talent. worth factoring into the calculus if YC is looking at sweden long term.
EY notes it may affect “retention of international talent”

and the head of sweden’s games industry raised similar concerns:

@FredrikHjelm4 And yet Sweden is doing everything it can to push talent to other countries. Savvy US tech workers are looking to Europe for stability, and here we are pulling the rug out from under them. https://t.co/HPEHD6GRek
I think I mentioned my personal definition of (and pitch for) engineering, which was approximately:
“To gain an understanding of how the world works and, by leveraging that understanding, improve it.”
Feels like the Tidö parties are driving Sweden over an economic cliff.
If you turn off the immigration tap (because you’re steered by the far right), but also you turn off the “child benefit” tap (because it leads to gang crime?)
Who’s left to work the economy tomorrow?
@palmerj3@abhi347 I always assume it’s related to ads. When you log in again, it’s a way to associate your email address with whatever cookies from whatever ad networks are set.
@GergelyOrosz It’s been flakier and flakier over the past several months. Totally broken the past couple days. Wouldn’t surprise me if they just killed it.
@TheLocalSweden On the flip side, Sweden is less likely to see as many applicants in the first place because the magical “no language skills required” column in the international labor market spreadsheet will no longer apply.
@TheLocalSweden As a practical matter: seems reasonable.
It will almost certainly be a net-negative for the labor market and economy, though.
Employers reliant on skilled labor from abroad will have to factor in costs for language classes for their employees (or for handling renewals longer)
