3 days ago. 40 years ago. One of the greatest children’s movies of the 80s was released. It was the first animated theatrical release for American greeting card icons The Care Bears. It featured the voice talents of legend Mickey Rooney, Canadian actress extraordinaire Jackie Burroughs, as well as Toronto superstars Cree Summer, Dan Hennessey, Hadley Kay, Terri Hawkes, Melle Fresh, and Billie Mae Richards. The film surpassed the likes of a struggling Disney, and was a huge success. The movie’s success lead to two more films and an animated series spinoff, which lead to many reboots of the franchise. The film helped spread the message of caring and positivity, while adding a dark tone in the form of the movie’s villain. The Care Bears movie has stood the test of time and is still being praised in the class of many children’s classics. Happy 40th Anniversary Care Bears movie! #CareBears #nostalgia
