It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.
Today, May 30th, we remember the fallen heroes and heroines of Biafra.
We honor the memory of over 3 million of our brothers and sisters who lost their lives. May their souls rest in peace. 🕯️
We Remember Our Fallen Heroes Today.
Dear Igbo Nation, today marks 56 years since we tragically lost over 4.5 million Igbo brothers and sisters to the Nigerian–Biafran War. They gallantly fought and died so that we might live. 🕊️
Let's Retweet in their memory. 🙏
Today, I remember Biafra.
I remember the millions of lives lost to war, starvation, and disease. I remember the families torn apart, the communities destroyed, and the generations forced to rebuild from the ashes of unimaginable suffering.
I honor the soldiers who fought defending their people, and I honor the innocent men, women, and children who never made it home.
Biafra Day is not just about a war. It is about remembrance, resilience, and the refusal to let history be forgotten.
Despite the loss, despite the displacement, despite everything that was taken, we are still here. We endured. We rebuilt. We survived.
May the souls of the fallen rest in peace, and may their memories never be erased.
Today is 30th of May 2026
Today we mourn,we honor and we remember the souls of the three million Biafrans whose lives were painfully cut short by the Nigeria Government.
1967-1970 was a painful year in Igbo Land and across all the Biafra territory. Families lost their providers, great and talented minds were also lost.
People lived in fears and pains just because of this incident.
Our promise to the lost souls and heros is that their pains and sacrifices will never be in vain. We'll continue to honor and appreciate them for their sacrifices.
Woe betides you that forget and misery befalls you that forget your root. We have endured so much pains, genocides and abuse by the people we thought was for us.
Today I see fools, saying that we should move on from the Biafra agitation, that it happened long time ago. I don't blame them because they are obviously blind and ignorant.
In 1952,seven years after the holocaust,Germany signed the Luxembourg agreement,Where they agreed to pay the survival of the Jewish holocaust,so far, they have paid $90billion,they paid $1.4b just 2023 alone, that aside, after the rwanda genocide, they erected the Gacaca,go read about it.
Go check South Africa, after the apartheid,a commission was set up&headed by the late Desmond TuTu.
Here in Nigeria, not even a day is set up to remember the scores of lives wasted by 9ja,they took all we owned and gave us £20,even if you had 20m in your account, they took your houses.
LAND OF THE RISING SUN 🌄
The only LAND we genuinely love and cherish. It might be difficult but it's never impossible 🤏🏽

@EsutEssentials This is hypocrisy at the highest level. Truth is, many of you are guilty of the same thing, the only difference is that yours was never recorded or made public.
As of today 4th may 2026 Nobody has picked Labour Party Presidential ticket, this is what happens when you think you have arrived because you experienced a one time boom 💥. Peter Obi was the reason for your success but your party leadership failed 😞
The Labour Party releases its 2027 election timetable, setting fees for its nomination forms. Presidential aspirants will pay N50m, while Gov. Otti is exemption from paying.
A party that was talk of the country just 3 years ago cannot secure one strong politician to come and run for presidency under them, they have resorted to offering Abia state Governor Alex Otti free presidential ticket if he declares interest but the Governor is not succumbing to their offer.
You people have learnt the hard way now back to trenches except in Abia State.
