Keep me and my Wife in your prayers fam, we are experiencing some difficulties finding each other.
I trust God to show up for us before the end of the year.
Yes, jazz dey.
For us Muslims, Islam doesn't teach us jazz doesn't exist, it only teaches us not to do it and how to protect ourselves from it within Islamic boundary.
Although many things people attribute to jazz are not jazz. Some are plain deception. Some are reductionist or escapist excuses.
True sir.
Someone we finished uni together is resuming my previous company because I submitted his CV and he passed his interview.
After 1 year, I've planned on how we're taking him to another place.
It's always in your circle.
There's a quiet pandemic in Nigerian higher institutions. Most students can no longer write their own final year projects. It has become normal for them to contract the work out and demand ridiculous "project writing" fees from their parents.
Maybe I'm overreacting, but I wrote my BSc project myself, from the proposal, to data collection and analysis, to the results and discussion, everything, with limited online resources. Myself and my roommate even bought a printer to make work easier.
With the number of accessible online resources in this age and time, I don’t see any reason why an undergraduate should contract their project out (except the data analysis part, which is understandable). Even AI is an helpful tool to guide you.
Gas finished last night and the kids were craving shawarma, I was too. Hubby said to go out to get it for all of us with drinks for dinner, I punched my calculator to see how much it will cost for a family of 5.
I arrived at over 35k. 12kg gas now cost 24k, we would use it 4weeks at least. I chose gas over shawarma.
That is for a family where both partners work and earn decently. We couldn't even afford a basic treat without punching the calculator. Everything extra is now considered luxury
Now imagine the life of a child whose both parents are skilless, unemployed or earns meagerly.
I know many of you will come and ask if shawarma is food, no it's not but everyone deserves a treat once in a while.
We all know what we are doing but you people should fear Allah.
Living alone is funny. Sometimes, you enjoy the peace because it helps you stay focused, productive, and get things done without distractions. Other times, the silence becomes too loud, and everything just starts to feel boring and empty. The freedom is sweet, but the loneliness can hit unexpectedly too.
According to recent corporate filings, Dangote Refinery just consolidated its legacy construction debts into a fresh $4 billion senior syndicated term loan underwritten by a syndicate of 31 lenders (led by Afreximbank and Access Bank).
On the flip side, financial advisers are targeting an initial market valuation of $40 billion to $50 billion for the public listing.
If we take the conservative lower end of that valuation ($40 billion) and run the standard Islamic equity screen:
4 Billion Consolidated Debt/40 Billion Target Valuation = 10%
For a stock to be halal, its interest-bearing debt must not exceed 33% of its market value.
At a provisional 10%, the refinery is well positioned within the safe zone. The absolute final confirmation will drop the moment the SEC-approved prospectus locks in the exact initial share price.
However, structurally, it is on track to comfortably pass the halal screen. It’s will be a 100% halal investment.
(My Sources: Institutional investor briefs, Bloomberg valuation reports, and the Afreximbank syndicated loan disclosures).
I feel it has to do with your response and delivery than their refusal to allow you pray.
During my time back in Lagos at a PM firm, I realized that how you talk to people who do not understand your faith determines if they see you as a burden or a benefit.
I remember asking the CEO if they will allow me go to Mosque when it’s time for Zhur. I made him to understand how it is important to keep my mind at peace knowing fully well that I have served my God. And he said if I don’t abuse it, it’s fine by him.
Guess who became my time keeper when it’s time for Solat? My CEO. He would tell me to go and pray first so that my mind can be at peace 😂.
Wisdom is a part of the Deen that we often forget in these situations. Let’s learn how to build bridges so people see that your prayer makes you a better worker.
