It’s the lack of fundamentals.

I’ve seen more developers rely heavily on AI tools to build projects, write code, and even debug issues.

That’s not the problem.

• Can’t reason about time/space complexity
• Can’t debug without AI assistance

AI is a powerful tool.

But interviews don’t test what you can generate.

They test what you understand.

And understanding only comes from fundamentals.

You can use AI to accelerate your work.

The framework can accelerate development.

Good engineering is what keeps the application healthy long after launch.

- Caching and performance optimisation
- Testing and CI/CD pipelines
- Security best practices

Django gives excellent tools, but it's still your responsibility to design a system that can grow with users.
