Gap of 30 days after non-audit ITR deadline is simply too short for quality Tax Audits involving detailed verification, reconciliations & professional responsibility.

Considering the difficulties being faced by taxpayers and tax professionals this year, the Tax Audit due date may kindly be extended to 31 October 2026.

At the same time, a permanent solution is required.

The Tax Audit due date should be shifted permanently to 31 October, so that there is a reasonable and practical gap between Tax Audit and ITR filing for audit cases.

Extend the due date to 31 October 2026 this year.
Shift the Tax Audit due date permanently to 31 October from future years.
This will provide certainty and avoid the need for repeated extensions every year.

More than 10 Associations across India have already submitted representations to @IncomeTaxIndia seeking extension of the Tax Audit Due Date to 31 October 2026. A few more are in the process of submitting theirs.

Why wait until the last week when an extension is being sought by the professional community?

The difficulties are already evident. An early decision would provide much-needed certainty to taxpayers, accountants and tax professionals and allow them to plan their work properly.

I hope the Board considers the representations and grants the extension tomorrow itself, rather than waiting until the last week.

At the same time, the Government should provide a permanent solution to the recurring issue of inadequate time between the Non-Audit ITR due date and Tax Audit due date, so that the profession does not have to seek extensions every year.

The Tax Audit due date has become impracticable due to the shifting of the Non-Audit ITR due date.

Chartered Accountants are suffering because of the disconnect between the Council, the Government and the ground-level reality of the profession.

You cannot stop standing up for your members. This is the bare minimum expected from a professional body.

The Council must understand the practical challenges faced by CAs on the ground and raise genuine concerns before the Government.

Representation is not a favour. It is a responsibility towards your members.

INDIAN EXPRESS DROPS A LAND BOMB ON BJP CM 🔥

After Mohan Yadav became Madhya Pradesh CM, his family and real estate companies reportedly bought at least 137 plots spread over 168 acres in and around Ujjain.

This is the same Ujjain being reshaped for Simhastha 2028 with highways, road widening, townships, riverfront projects, medical city, IT park and new commercial zones.

The most damning part is this: out of the 168 acres bought after he became CM, 111 acres are reportedly located along roads announced by CM Mohan Yadav himself.

His family already had land. But after Dec 2023, the land buying saw a sharp jump, right when Ujjain’s development map started turning into a goldmine.

Indian Express repeatedly asked the CM for answers. He stayed silent.
