🚨 WHAT CHANGES AFTER A ZERO FIR? KOLKATA POLICE HAS THE ANSWER.
The Kolkata Police Commissioner has issued fresh guidelines to ensure faster handling of Zero FIRs and improve accountability in investigations.
📝 A Zero FIR allows a victim to register an FIR at any police station, regardless of where the crime occurred.
• Any Zero FIR must be transferred immediately to the police station with jurisdiction, and the investigation should begin without delay.
• The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station registering the Zero FIR must personally coordinate with the receiving OC and confirm the case transfer.
• Complete incident details and the complainant's contact information must be shared with the receiving police station.
• Police must keep the complainant informed about the action taken and provide the contact details of the investigating police station's OC.
• In cases involving crimes against women, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the concerned division must also be informed.
