4. If your client is a suspect, know that the police already sees him as guilty.

5. Ensure that you establish a good communication and friendly relationship with the IPO and the Complainant or his/her lawyer before you go or when you get there.

6. Speak the truth to your client. if your client is wrong, do not hesitate to clear him or her (but be kind about it).

7. Your first approach is settlement, especially when money is involved. ensure that you settle the matter amicably and not insist your client be charged to court, except it gets to the extreme necessary end.

8. Hold money! Bail is not free!!

9. Ensure to have negotiated your professional fees with your client. Do not trust any client that tells you they will pay you when they are out. 8 out of 10 of them will not pay you.

10. Make sure you clear your table for any important thing for the day. It is time wasting!!!!

Sheikh Prof. Abdulganiyu Abdus-Salam Oladosu Al-Adabiy, widely known as AGAS, is a distinguished Nigerian scholar of Arabic and Islamic studies and the former Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin Central Mosque.

Born on February 10, 1950, in Cape Coast, Ghana, he is celebrated for his profound erudition and his ability to bridge the gap between traditional Islamic scholarship and modern academic excellence.

He received his initial training under the legendary Shaykh Muhammad Kamalud-deen Al-Adabiy. He later graduated with honours from the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo (1979) and obtained a Master’s degree from the American University in Cairo (1982).

In Egypt, he worked as a newscaster and translator for the Egyptian Broadcasting Corporation (1974–1982), even covering historic events such as the assassination of President Anwar Sadat.

At the University of Ilorin, he served as the Director of several units, including the Academic Planning Unit and the Centre for Ilorin Studies.

He was appointed Deputy Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin in 1992 and became the substantive Chief Imam in 2008. He retired from the university on his 70th birthday in February 2020.

He is renowned for his exceptional command of English, Arabic, and Yoruba, often serving as a spellbinding communicator and exegete on the minbar (pulpit).

Contributions to Society: Beyond academia, he has facilitated the building of over 40 mosques and is a strong advocate for the elevation of Arabic education in Nigeria.

He remains a highly respected mentor and "teacher of Professors," known for his uprightness, humility, and dedication to the intellectual legacy of his predecessors.

RAMADAN CRESCENT SIGHTING UPDATE!

His Eminence has confirmed the sighting of the Ramadan crescent in Nigeria and has declared that tomorrow, February 18th, will mark the beginning of Ramadan 1447.

The Sultanate received reports of Ramadan crescent sightings from three different locations within Nigeria, and these claims were confirmed by the authorities in the respective areas where the sightings were reported. His Eminence is currently abroad, and an official announcement will soon be made by the Shehu of Borno, who is the deputy president general of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

Prof. Oloyede told us at the opening of the Uniport Central Mosque that a late friend of his kept 5m with him in 2002 to build a masjid at the Rivers State University.

They’ve been appealing to the management of the university for 24 years to no success. Now that the Supreme Court has ruled in our favour, it’s time to build that masjid.

I remember reaching out to prof that the masjid could have been built in another location in Port Harcourt to avoid the money losing valua. Prof insisted that even if it will only buy a bag of cement, the money will be kept intact till the day we are able to get approval for the construction.

May Allah forgive the deceased who kept 5m with Prof. Oloyede for this project and may Allah reward prof. Oloyede for keeping the trust.
