2024 was a year of many firsts for us 📷
We are grateful to all our partners and friends who have supported us and enabled us to empower over 150 young talented individuals from underserved communities with tech skills.
We are excited for what 2025 has in store for us.
The techies have united👊🏾 and @iamericmuray has taken us through how @PLPAfrica is creating opportunities for the youth!

Apricot grantee @shieldintlorg are working in Kibera (a huge African slum) to introduce a Blockchain development course teaching young developers to build tech-enabled innovative solutions on Celo!
Before you buy that domain for the side project you think will become a unicorn let's talk about why most founders building startup are building nice-to-have's in a world of necessity. 🧵🦄
Kenya now is at almost 80% connection to grid 💡and at the moment, we are at almost 70% mobile phone penetration 📱, higher than most countries in the world. We’ve seen Kenya earn its place at the forefront of tech in Africa creating jobs as well as spurring innovation.
The #ICTABill2024 proposals to regulate the industry are retrogressive and would actually claw back the gains 🔙we’ve made by locking out most people who are able to find and create jobs as we position ourselves as a global hub for technological innovation.
And ban tribalism and its cousins forever. Everything is merit based, papers or no papers. Can you do the job with the quality it deserves? Perfect, you are hired.
And improve public schools to an almost equal level countrywide - well paid teachers, balanced teacher-student ratio, enough food, enough materials, heck, even introduce true online schools students
No student goes to school at 5 am, no morning preps across
Make electricity and internet accessible to everyone countrywide. KPLC shall be made to work or disbanded altogether
All government spending is publicised. What office did your office receive? What did you spend, where, by who, and when? To the last cent.
Fix land issues properly, and digitise land.
And (this is key!) introduce working addresses, every home and building must have an address. You order anything online wherever, and it is delivered right to your door.
And those bandits in Baringo shall fear the new gov, no toying with them around, so shall any other enemies of Kenya. Change or be wiped.
Bring back trains in the whole country to improve public transport. Be where you want to be in minutes. And government buses for last mile transportation. And standardize fares. No hiking.
Police officers get good salaries. Any bribing will be a very serious offence.
Devolution(and delegation) is a good thing but our gov does not know how to utilise it. We shall reduce the number of offices in that docket, massively. And those that remain must be put to work.
Fully utilise tech at gov offices.
And have a working wing of technology in government. Its role will be to automate every automatable office into an online platform. We want a working system, and if it means 10 people losing jobs but ten million benefitting, so be it!
Man, let change this country!!!
