Throwback - When #AjithKumar refused to take part in 2002 Singapore & Malaysia Tamil Mega Star Night Event and Captain Vijayakanth supported him!

It was in 2002 the entire Kollywood thronged up for the Singapore and Malaysia star night events. The event was organised by Nadigar Sangam headed by Captain Vijayakanth. However Ajith Kumar didn't take part in the event, and it stirred controversies.

However, when someone approached "Captain" and checked about his conversations with AK. He said, "I approached him, and he gave me a reason - which looked appreciable. He asked me when audiences are spending their money and buy tickets to watch our films, why should we host such events and again take their money. If actors like us are willing, we can contribute from our ends. Saying this, AK handed over a cheque of huge amount as his contribution, and didn't take part in the events.

This created a mix of appreciation and at the same time, a kind of resentment from few, who were not happy with his gesture.

He directly replied, "We'll give you theatres, but our people won't come to watch your movies."
