we all know that more data in leads to better results out. most systems that capture this data are ambient.

and it's not that all ambient capture tools are bad, what matters is who it’s good for.

for example, something like @sandbar or @meetgranola works well bc its for personal use.

but shared or evaluative contexts are different.

once people know they’re being observed (and that it's being used against them), they get more defensive (valid), more performative, or they start messing with the signal itself.

that’s why i think ambient capture alone is not enough.

it has to come from systems where people willingly contribute high quality signals, where incentives are aligned.
