Contrast
A door just opened on a street --
I, lost, was passing by --
An instant’s width of warmth disclosed,
And wealth, and company.
The door as sudden shut, and I,
I, lost, was passing by, --
Lost doubly, but by contrast most,
Enlightening misery.
— Emily Dickinson
@NeuroTaha True. I sincerely hope so, too. Nearly everything has started to feel like a daunting task, especially with the current precarious state of the world. May this uncertainty be the nudge we need to propel us into at least trying…We owe that to ourselves. As cliché as it may sound.
It’s about time we let go of our apprehension and fear of failure that will only hinder us from pursuing what we really want. Let’s unleash that confined creativity within us and go after what it is that we’ve long been waiting for the “right time” to do.
“I want liberation. I want to be liberated. I don’t know where I’m trapped but I feel trapped...I want to break free.”
My Liberation Notes (2022), dir. Kim Seok-Yoon
I cannot emphasize this enough but life is way too short and unpredictable, so please, let’s try to never hold back on showing and expressing our love and appreciation to those close to us.
“Once conform, once do what other people do because they do it, and a lethargy steals over all the finer nerves and faculties of the soul. She becomes all outer show and inward emptiness; dull, callous, and indifferent.”
- Virginia Woolf
“There are some nights when
sleep plays coy,
aloof and disdainful.
And all the wiles
that I employ to win
its service to my side
are useless as wounded pride,
and much more painful.”
- “Insomniac” by Maya Angelou
