في ظل الأوضاع الراهنة، رصدت شرطة دبي مُحتالين يستغلون المستجدات وينتحلون صفة موظفين تابعين لـ"إدارة الأزمات في دبي" مدّعين ارتباطهم بشرطة دبي، بهدف الاستيلاء على بيانات الهوية الرقمية (UAE Pass) وبطاقة الهوية الإماراتية (EID).

وتؤكد شرطة دبي أن مشاركة هذه البيانات قد تمكّن المحتالين من تنفيذ عمليات استبدال شريحة الاتصال (SIM Swap) والسيطرة على الحسابات المصرفية عبر التطبيقات البنكية.

كما تؤكد شرطة دبي أنها لا تطلب أي بيانات سرّية أو رموز تحقق عبر الهاتف أو الرسائل، وتهيب بالجمهور عدم مشاركة معلوماتهم الشخصية أو المصرفية مع أي جهة غير موثوقة، والإبلاغ الفوري عن أي محاولة احتيال عبر القنوات الرسمية عبر الاتصال على الرقم 901 ومنصة ecrime الخاصة ببلاغات الجرائم الإلكترونية.
