London ran toward 38°C this week, and inside the House of Lords the Global Methane Hub sat among the people who decide where the next wave of methane funding goes.

Its CEO, Marcelo Mena, named the real obstacle plainly: the data problem is solved, the technology is settled and often pays for itself. What's missing now is attention — and the policy and finance frameworks that only arrive once attention does.

Coal mine methane is where that gap is widest. Every other methane source — landfill, oil and gas, agriculture — has a constituency that tells its story and defends its place in the budget. Coal has almost none. Not because the case is weak, but because no one has been resourced to make it.

That is the quieter ask of this Climate Week. The categories that get abated are the ones someone bothered to explain — patiently, credibly — until capital and policy could finally see them. Coal mine methane deserves that same investment: in communication, and in action.

The brake exists. What it needs is people willing to fund the work of making the world want to pull it.
