My favorite line from Atomic Habits has been living in my head rent-free:
“It doesn’t make sense to continue wanting something if you’re not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don’t want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment.”
Thinking about a difficult task activates the pain centres of your brain before you even touch the work. Your body generates actual physical exhaustion from the mere anticipation of effort. The only way to counter this is to take action immediately.
Managing your energy is vastly superior to managing your time. You can have a perfectly optimised calendar, but if constant interactions drain your brainpower, your productivity drops to zero. Protect your energy to protect your output.
My Sunday in NYC:
1) post knicks-win hangover
2) recorded a podcast w @iamrishirose
3) @fliptexts intern function (actually fun, good ratio)
4) crash at stripe intern’s place in midtown
