In April 2026, the City Superintendent of Police of Katni (MP) Neha Pachisia, was investigating a murder case involving an accused named Akash Lodhi.

She allegedly demanded a ₹15 lakh bribe from his family in exchange for delaying the case and help him secure the bail. When they were unable to pay, she forced Akash's father to sell his prime land, valued at nearly ₹1 crore, to her associate, Maroof Ahmed Hanafi, for just ₹18.20 lakh. After securing the deal, she deliberately delayed filing the charge sheet, enabling Akash to walk free on default bail.

When the family filed a complaint, an official inquiry confirmed the financial and administrative misconduct. Investigators discovered that her associate Hanafi had only ₹3,000 in his account the day before the purchase; on the day of the transaction, ₹18.20 lakh was deposited into his account and subsequently paid to the Lodhi family. Amusingly, Neha did not even pay this amount from her own savings, but instead arranged for another party to transfer the funds.

Signaling a firm stance on administrative integrity, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav personally stepped in to order her immediate suspension as an FIR was lodged against her.
