Birds of Indian Embassy (@indiainnepal): Peregrine Falcon (शाही बाज) is one of the three raptor birds who sometime reside in Indian Embassy. They are seen often perched on pine tree tops. And here they get mobbed often by Black crows (कालो काग) as in these photos.

Birds of Indian Embassy (@IndiaInNepal ): Two White Throated Kingfishers (सेतोकण्ठे माटीकोरे) are permanent resident of Embassy. Usually each stays alone; coming together only during breeding season. This year, there is an addition to their family, with a juvenile offspring. The juvenile can be identified as its beak is brownish unlike a mature bird’s orange beak. These photographs of parent feeding juvenile show this difference.

Birds of Indian Embassy (@IndiaInNepal ): Another parrot species that makes Indian Embassy its home is Alexandrine Parrot (कर्रा सुगा). They are larger than Rose Ringed Parakeet and have a distinctive purple patch on their wing shoulder. Here is one being mobbed by a Jungle Crow (कालो काग). The compound of @indiainnepal is host to many hundreds of crows who generally tend to mob other avian species for occupying a perch or at other times to force predatory birds away

@indiainnepal not just hosts diplomats but also a large number of birds given its green cover. Many are permanent residents unlike diplomats who are birds of passage. I had the good fortune of living with them. This series introduces some of them. Permanent avian residents @indiainnepal include Rose Ringed Parakeet (कण्ठे सुगा), whose numbers are more than 200. Every morning they move in flocks towards शिवपुरी नागार्जुन राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्ज and every evening at sunset they come back flying by as aircrafts in flypast!

I’m happy about Josh Wardle’s sale of Wordle to the New York Times, if only because it shows that it is possible to create something for love, put it out in the world for people to enjoy for free, never act like a jackass even once a little, and still turn a tidy profit. Bravo!
