SPECIAL REPORT: A large swath of the U.S. currently does not have the basic, ground-level immunity necessary to stop the spread of viruses that had once receded into the past, a six-month NBC News investigation in collaboration with scientists at Stanford University finds. https://t.co/MWLJV46yIJ
I received this message. Please help spread the word. You mothers life may depend on it:
Hey Jack, I know you are a busy man, but I wanted to pass along information that the public likely does not know about and you have a large reach.
I am a cancer researcher at Henry Ford Hospital and Michigan State University. Today, we found out that the administration is going around court orders and blocking all research funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH).
They blocked the ability of the NIH to communicate with the federal registrar and list the study sections (scientific review committees to score grants) and council meeting (funding decisions on highly scored grants).
What this does is effectively stop these committee meetings because all meetings must be listed by the federal registrar.
This is how the administration is skirting the court orders to keep research funding open. Now, basic and translational (bench to bedside) research is blocked indefinitely.
They also are screening all applications for any "DEI" or "gender identity" words. No joke, a grant about improving transitioning from high school to college was block for using the word "transitioning".
This is unacceptable and will put the US behind all other nations, stop medical and tech advances, and have a massive effect on the economy.
For every tax payer dollar invested in research, there is about a 3 dollar return. This is unbelievable and the nation is universally behind cancer and medical research.
Also, they cut 20% of the NIH workforce last Friday and will likely fire all division heads tomorrow.
Please spread the word if you can! We are trying to come up with solutions as a scientific community and have been calling representatives nonstop. Thanks!!
Holy shit! Bruce Springsteen, with one of the most eloquent endorsements for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz you'll hear. The Boss also delivered one of the strongest repudiations of the loathsome piece of shit I've heard from anyone. Let's fucking go‼️🙌🌊🇺🇸
Feels important to note that the president of the union leading the port strike has a long-standing relationship with Trump and is causing major damage to a roaring economy five weeks before the election.
Effective tax rates before and after the Trump tax law:

After: 8%

This is what a corporate giveaway looks like.
@RadioFreeTom The Facebook laughter emoji is used more often in the harsh sense of "laughing at" as opposed to "laughing with", & it is used with abandon. That's not how I was brought up. Just an example of the coarsening of our public life.
A group calling themselves "No Labels" has suddenly emerged as a huge financial backer of Kyrsten Sinema.
They're also floating the idea of running Joe Manchin for President.
We dug into them, and found a whole lot of billionaires with a history of opposing democracy.
Sadly I think this will happen more and more until this is basically Truth social.
Anyone found the replacement yet? Post or spoutible?

This is a problem I have seen since Tom Mann and I wrote It’s Even Worse Than It Looks in 2012. And what is so depressing is that nothing significant in the press has changed in more than a decade, even as the threat to the fundamentals of American democracy has mushroomed.
