The drama around Andy Byron, CEO of Astronomer, is one of the biggest distractions in recent memory. So many are feeding the fire—can’t you see it’s all a diversion?

I was an intern many years back and frequently did the task at 6pm or even 10pm, in one case I was out with my friends and went home to get the task done. For me I am grateful that I was given these tasks "out of hours" as it taught me in business sometimes there are no set hours. I guess we all look at life differently...
Beyond the tell-tales and the plot twists, Maggie Wilson exposed an organized and well- orchestrated campaign directed against her person, the object of which is not just to malign but paint her in a state of despair in the online platforms.
Funny posts on X even say she was able to do what the law enforcement agencies and the media have been working on for long.
The so-called influencers with 3 million or at least 1.5 million followers revealed and affirmed recruitment, and creation of content against Ms. Wilson. There is indeed a brain behind these promising creators who admitted being paid at least PhP8,000.00. They must face the wrath of law.
What is concerning is the improper use of the online space. Instead of intellectual creation and appropriate use of influence, they have committed and are still doing a wrong punishable under the laws.
The online space should not be a space for criminals. This must stop.
While this exposé seems personal to Ms. Wilson, it opens the discourse to political, substantial legal and policy issues vital for the use of online space that should be safe for all.
If these kind of content creators that can be dubbed as trolls can operate as an army of one ---for personal or political use --all of these should be taken in legislation for the protection of the general public against inauthentic online behavior and all forms of legal attacks.
This opens the call to Congress and concerned agencies to revisit the use and abuse of online platforms that could degrade a person, destroy a business or even ruin institutions.
Every Juan must be protected, online or offline. The time is now!
