@CharlesFLehman Is this an example of collider bias: conditional on being at an elite academic institution, IQ is not meaningfully correlated with success? I'm not in academics, but in my work as a community PCP, health literacy is widely distributed which makes the job interesting/fun!
@530BruceRoss@johnarnold@nicholas_bagley But aren't those sectors already "part of the market", i.e., a person is free to choose to work at either the public or private version of the jobs? I know physicians who work at the VA, but they are selecting not solely on annual salary.
@andrewgwils@dwarkesh_sp@drmichaellevin fascinating work on the role of electricity in biology and could also talk about xenobots which I think would be very interesting to your audience
@iwsfutcmd It's not so much short-sighted as "un-sighted" - as an EV owner, I'm not seeing the price per kWh (too high in MA!) everytime I plug in at home.
@matthewherper As a HCW who gets a flu shot every yr without any post-vax symptoms, I would stay with the standard vax based on moderna's own data. 0.5% absolute reduction = NNT of 200 to prevent one additional ILI. But the SE bar graph show an NNHarm of 5-20 in post-vax symptoms.
@pawtrammell As a pcp using AI scribe software, this feels so true. The AI generates a transcript and initial draft of the patient visit, but my time spent editing the output for clarity, accuracy, brevity, makes me feel like I haven't really saved any time. https://t.co/jEJA21huSr
@dereckwpaul I came to a similar -- but opposite -- analogy using your products and others. AI is there to precept the physician: looking over the shoulder, suggesting additional dxs, broading the ddx, reminding of new guidelines, pulling in that piece of data from EMR that was missed
@MenInBlazers@daisychristo explains the problem with VAR -- would love to have her sit down with Roger as they discuss the "metaphysics of football" https://t.co/JSvnSyCSYu
@EricTopol BUT I've always wondered if this groups' research might have a bigger impact in USA since they are already on the literal Mediterranean at baseline!
@EricTopol NNT of 40 over 6 yrs not blowing me away, i.e, 39 people got no additional DM prevention benefit with the exercise and calorie reduction vs just med diet.
@MWeintraubMD Agree market competition intense, but likely for increasingly smaller # of patients unless it is also on price (how markets typically work). Here in MA, BCBS and other major insurers dropping GLP1s for wt loss in 2026. Depending on Medicaid cuts, likely will get cut there also
@NAChristakis After chaos at NIH, RFK, Harvard research freeze, etc is it too late to rename that new book "One of the Wars on Science"? The definite article doesn't quite fit these days.
