62 days since lockdown & everyone saying it feels like an eternity. Try translating that into the 62 day standard waiting time for cancer treatment, and imagine how it feels when your life is hanging in the balance @GM_Cancer @GMCancerUI
Rishi Sunak announcing any old shit now just to see what might possibly get him a few polling points. Coming up this week:
- shepherds pie banned
- everyone must wear matching socks and pants
- war with Bulgaria
🤷♂️
“Illness is neither an indulgence for which people have to pay, nor an offence for which they should be penalised, but a misfortune, the cost of which should be shared by the community.”
- Nye Bevan

My routine oncologist appointment @TheChristieNHS on Monday didn’t go quite as expected. Turns out I have a v bad lung infection so I was admitted to the Acute Assessment Unit. On oxygen 24/7 and being pumped with mountains of antibiotics, antivirals, etc. Prob here a few days!
Massive thanks to my oncologists @KateGarcez @ClaireLArthur and my GP @drrebeccaleon for the fantastic support and for getting me through another year. Always grateful
Had a call from The Christie to tell me the results of last weeks CT scan. A few seconds of panic until I heard that everything remains stable and the drugs continue to hold my cancer in check. Nice Xmas present!!
Today is my 8 year cancerversary 🎈
As each year goes by, it gets more bittersweet. Pleased to be alive, but aware that the median lifespan with stage IV cancer is 5 years and so increasingly getting a sense of the sand slipping through the egg timer!
Visited the 7th hospital of my long cancer journey yesterday. 3 of those for original treatment and now up to 4 for subsequent side effects, which tells you a lot about living with cancer.
Staff at the Centre for Infectious Diseases were brilliant 👏🏼 @NorthMcrGH_NHS
@Fi8988@GM_Cancer Sorry to hear this, thinking of you and your family. I think everyone copes in the way that suits them. I’ve tried to see it as having a positive side as well as the obvious negatives. Certainly made me get on with things I wanted to do and places I wanted to go
Advice please!
You think you’ve been on a hospital waiting list for 2.5 years. You find out the hospital took you off the waiting list 9 months ago, but didn’t tell you. What do you do?
