When Washington transfers purchasing power to the poor through SNAP, Medicaid, housing vouchers, and 126 other overlapping programs, it doesn't eliminate scarcity; it relocates decision-making from individuals to administrators. Those administrators develop career interests in perpetuating dependency, because a solved problem eliminates their department.

Free market thinkers identified this perverse incentive structure before Johnson signed the Economic Opportunity Act. Every dollar taxed from productive activity carries a deadweight cost before it reaches anyone's dinner table.

Capital formation lifts people out of poverty. You build wealth through savings, property rights, and voluntary exchange, none of which $22 trillion in redistributed spending actually produced.

We apparently need to revisit your induction.

Management seems to have forgotten something rather important:

YOU WORK FOR THE PUBLIC.

We call you “Management” because it makes these emails funnier.

You’re not actually our bosses. We’re yours.

And that means everyone.

People who voted for you.

People who didn’t.

People who agree with you.

And — this may come as a shock — people who think you’re doing a shit job.

They’re all members of UK PLC.

Today’s protest caused disruption and you’re perfectly entitled to condemn that.

But there’s a considerable difference between:

“I disagree with your methods.”

and:

“You’re idiots. Get a job.”

These people are protesting border control after successive governments repeatedly promised to fix it.

Small-boat crossings being substantially down this year is welcome.

Good. Now finish the fucking job.

Because “down” isn’t “solved.”

And sneering at people who remain angry certainly isn’t leadership.

Andy, as Senior Manager, HR would remind you that the conduct of Management ultimately lands on your desk.

We therefore recommend:

Have a quiet word with Mike.

Perhaps begin with:

“Mike, what the fuck were you thinking?”

Then apologise to the members and remind Management that disagreement isn’t insubordination.

It’s called democracy.

And finally, please remember:

Winning an election doesn’t make politicians the owners of Britain.

It gives them temporary responsibility for managing it.

The country belongs to its people.

And eventually those people conduct Management’s performance review.

It happens in a little booth.

There’s normally a pencil attached to a piece of string.

And spending several years insulting the people holding that pencil is generally considered poor career planning.

A British town rejects the "far right" - and gets exactly what it asked for.

Llantwit Major is a small seaside town in Wales. A few years ago, the government proposed a migrant camp in the centre of town. Anti-migrant groups warned that this would be bad for the town.

Then, far-left groups came into the town and convinced the residents that the migrant camp would be good (no more than 90 people, mostly young Ukrainian women fleeing the war) and reminded them that they must reject the far right, or they would look racist.

Eager to not look racist, the townspeople staged a counter-protest to the supposed far right and said, "We reject racism! Refugees are welcome here!" The town's voices - Jack, the football club DJ; Father Edwin Counsell, the town's punk-turned-priest; Councillor Gwyn John - all spoke out to condemn "far-right bigots".

73 year old Annie voiced support for the migrant camp. She "loves guerrilla gardening and co-ordinates a seed-swap with other gardening enthusiasts in her community.” Well, that's good, because you're about to get 300 young men just off a boat who want to swap their seed as well.

A huge victory for the left, with local townspeople speaking out about how definitely not racist they are, and the BBC writing gushing articles about the plucky little town that rejected the far right.

But then the migrant camp was built. The townspeople got what they asked for, and now they're not happy.

At the time, Councillor Gwyn John slammed residents' objections to the migrant camp. Now that it's been built, he's complaining about phoning his doctor and being 33rd in the queue. (The migrant camp was built on the site of a proposed medical centre, which has been shelved).

And the proposed blonde, nubile Ukrainian women have stopped coming, but the refugees who haven't stopped coming are men from Africa, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the Middle East.

They're going to be put up in a sprawling complex that butts right up against residents' gardens, with the housing units peering directly into their homes, just metres away.

I hope British towns are ready for this. Andy Burnham wants to move migrants around the country to anywhere where the Labour vote needs to be bolstered by some imported Third World leftists. So either get used to this - or be prepared to be called racist.

On radically different incomes life in America can be surprisingly similar.

Imagine three single mothers, each raising a ten-year-old boy. One is a public-school teacher in Tampa earning $50,000 a year. Another is a lawyer in Atlanta earning $200,000. The third is a venture-capital partner in Chicago earning $1 million.

On paper, they inhabit three different Americas. One earns twenty times more than another. One is 25th percentile im wealth the other 84th the last one top 1%. They describe inequality in the USA.

Now look at their sons.

All three wake up with electricity, running water, refrigeration, heating and air conditioning. They eat plenty of food, ride in safe modern cars, wear sneakers, watch YouTube, play the same video games, use similar phones and tablets and have access to vaccines, antibiotics, dentists and modern medicine.

One goes to public school, another to private school, the third perhaps to an elite private school. One flies economy once a year, another travels frequently, the third may occasionally fly private. Their houses, neighborhoods and vacations are different.

But their actual daily lives are far less different than their mothers’ incomes suggest.

The socialist argument has always been about equality of outcomes.

Well, look around. In much of ordinary material life, capitalism has already produced something remarkably close to it.

The millionaire’s refrigerator does not keep milk twenty times fresher. Her son’s iPhone does not make YouTube twenty times more entertaining. He cannot eat twenty breakfasts, sleep twenty hours at once or enjoy a video game twenty times more because his mother earns twenty times as much.

For several hours every day, these three boys may be doing almost exactly the same thing.

This would have been unimaginable two centuries ago. The child of a rich family and the child of a laborer often lived in genuinely different physical worlds. One had plentiful food, warmth, books, servants, doctors and transportation. The other might lack adequate calories or clean water.

Industrial capitalism destroyed much of that inequality by doing something socialism never managed very well: making formerly scarce things cheap enough for almost everyone.

Cars, refrigerators, televisions, air conditioning, computers and smartphones began as luxuries and became mass-market goods. The entrepreneur became rich precisely by making what the rich had available to everybody else.

And that may explain one of the great ironies of the new American enthusiasm for socialism. Capitalism’s victories are now so complete that nobody notices them.

Clean water is not considered wealth. Neither is electricity. Nor refrigeration. Nor an air-conditioned bedroom, instant global communication, unlimited music, thousands of films or a computer in your pocket more powerful than anything that existed when many of today’s billionaires were children.

Those things have become invisible because almost everyone has them.

What remains visible are the inequalities capitalism has not eliminated: the mansion, the private school, the beachfront house, the prestigious university, the best neighborhood.

But if the political demand is that ordinary people should be able to enjoy many of the same basic experiences as the rich, something extraordinary has already happened.

Put these families on a chart and the inequality looks enormous.

Put their ten-year-old boys on three sofas at eight o’clock at night, eating pizza in sweatpants and staring at nearly identical screens, and the difference becomes surprisingly hard to see.

Equality of income? Obviously not.

Equality of many of the outcomes that actually fill a human day?

Far more than we admit.

About £800,000 in launch donations sat in MoU Operations Ltd after you became sole director. £600,000 was transferred by late 2025. Has the remaining balance actually gone to the party, or is it still sitting with MoU?
And what happened to the separate £500,000 taken through the unauthorised membership portal? Your Party said it couldn’t accept that money because of the legal risk. Supporters were told to chase refunds from MoU. Have those people been repaid in full, or is that pot still unaccounted for?
If you’re going to lecture other politicians about money, publish the figures. How much of the £800k is still outstanding, and what happened to the £500k?

On March 30, 1822, when the massacre in Chios began, the Muslim Turks had clear orders. The Sultan had commanded that all Greek Christians be slaughtered, except for boys aged 3-12 and women from 12 to 40. These would be captured and destined for the slave markets.

Young girls were raped publicly in the streets, and newlyweds in front of their husbands, who were then slaughtered. Others were raped in front of their parents, after which the men's genitals were cut off. Women over 40 were set on fire and left to burn alive. Pregnant women had their bellies ripped open and their fetuses pulled out, while small children were thrown forcefully against rocks. The frenzy of the Muslims was unprecedented.

Many Turkish soldiers cut off the heads of Greek Christians and then licked their swords. With this act, they believed they would earn a place in paradise. Others were hanged from the island's trees for deterrence. Severed human limbs and corpses were scattered on the streets, while the sea had turned red from the blood. The smoke from the burning houses had covered all of Chios, while the flames made the night look like day.Several women from Chios preferred death over dishonor and slavery.

They committed suicide by jumping off cliffs. Some were killed while defending their children, siblings, and husbands. Even among those who were captured, some died on hunger strike.Destitute women and children from the island were crammed into ships and transported to the markets of Smyrna and Constantinople, where they were sold as slaves at humiliating prices.

By May 1, 1822, over 41.000 slave ownership documents, known as "teskerés", had been issued in Chios. According to the French-language newspaper of Smyrna, Spectateur Oriental, by May 10, duties had been paid at the Smyrna customs for 40,000 slaves. The priest Welsh from the English embassy in Constantinople recorded what he saw in those days at the city's slave market:

"The Turks treated the women from Chios with utmost contempt. They examined them, groped them like butchers do lambs, and bought them for 100 grosia to 3 pounds per head. About 500 women from Chios were sold in the fish market."

The tragic events of Chios shocked Europe and America. For many weeks, the European press reported daily information and descriptions about the fate of the inhabitants, the massacres, the plunder, and the sale of women and children in the slave markets.

Korais writes in a letter to Varvakis:

"Imagine that you see Christ on the Cross, drenched in His blood, and calling out to you these paternal words: My son Varvakis, many thousands of captives baptized in my name are in danger at this hour of renouncing me and embracing the abominable religion of Mohammed. Behold the time, baptized in my name, beloved son, to save your baptized brothers from the Turkish defilement."

The horrific images of the crimes of the Muslims against the Greek Christians were never erased from the collective memory of Europeans. Great European artists were so shocked by the descriptions that they created important works inspired by Chios.

The famous painting by Delacroix is exhibited to this day in a prominent position at the Louvre. Victor Hugo's poem titled "The Greek Child" is a moving record. But the most famous sculpture of 19th-century America also stands out, named: the "Greek Slave." The sculptor Hiram Powers began carving it about twenty years after the tragic events. The statue depicts a young woman, nude, bound with chains. In one hand, she holds a small cross on a chain.

Powers himself describes the subject of his work as follows:

"The Slave has been abducted by the Turks from one of the Greek Islands during the Greek Revolution, the history of which is known to all. Her father and mother, and perhaps all her relatives, have been exterminated by her enemies, and she alone was kept alive, as a treasure that could not be thrown away. Now she is among barbarian strangers, under the pressure of the full recollection of the catastrophic events that led her to this state. She stands exposed to the gaze of people she abhors, and awaits her fate with intense anxiety, which is mitigated by her trust in the goodness of God. Gather all these sufferings together, and add to them the strength and resignation of a Christian, and there is no room left for shame."

As a Greek, I will use my weapon, the knowledge of my history, to warn as many as I can about the violent and barbaric invasion of Islam and the war we are experiencing today.

From 2010 to 2012 he was the minister in charge of the Post Office.

The Post Office’s computer system was faulty. It wrongly showed money missing from local branches. Hundreds of innocent people who ran those Post Offices were accused of stealing, lost their businesses, went to court, and went to prison.

Alan Bates, who fought for them, asked Davey for a meeting in 2010. Davey said no ..it “would serve no useful purpose.”

At least 13 people later took their own lives because of what happened. Davey now says Post Office bosses lied to him.

The people whose lives were ruined say he should have done more.

Years later Davey was paid hundreds of thousands of pounds as a consultant by the law firm that then fought the Post Office’s victims in court.
