The literacy crisis isn’t that people can’t read the words. It’s that they can’t understand the context, infer meaning, recognise nuance, identify contradictions, or draw logical conclusions from what they’ve read.
George Orwell worried that a shrinking vocabulary would eventually produce a shrinking range of thought.
It is difficult to think a nuanced thought with a blunt language.
Words that I cannot spell.
Boo k (like flowers that they give people)
Showfa (private driver)
Kolig (as in your workmate)
Fall straight (as in you fall straight me)
Silowet (that Shadow stuff)
iiii ( as in where a bride walks down during wedding)
😭😭
Most Gen Zs were too young to get it, but the sudden death of Mutula Kilonzo Snr in 2013 completely shook Kenya. Officially ruled a severe BP spike from decongestants, his family and the public always suspected poisoning & a massive coverup. A truly dark, historic moment.
Again I say. This should only be for ex cons. We cannot continue to assume that the entire population is guilty until proven innocent by the most corrupt apparatus in Kenyas history.
@warfaaMuxumed@moneyacademyKE Uchi means palm wine in Mijikenda. Not naked as your perverted brain may have assumed. Somalia is your country. Kindly return to it.
Additionally, I have actually studied urban planning and design. So it is my area of expertise.
There is no rapid urbanization. It is simply rapid money laundering, by greedy developers and corrupt county officials who are building high rise units that devalue and destroy Nairobi’s character.
After we saw Patrick Analo the urban planning official that hid cash in his house in Syokimau, arrested for corrupt building approvals, new policies should be implemented requiring that officials responsible for granting development approvals must have resided in the relevant neighbourhood or area for at least 6 years.
This residency requirement would help ensure that decision-makers have a strong understanding of the local context, thereby better preserving and enhancing the character of neighbourhoods in Nairobi and across the country.
