@ProFootballTalk Mike: I was at the Germany WC in 2006. The US was playing Italy on one day and we organized a beer-garden meetup before the game. Amazingly, the Italy fans had done the same at a neighboring beer garden! The DJs alternated with US-oriented hits (Born in the USA, etc) and the Italians were playing Italian pop. Only one song did both sides sing along to, Country Roads. Why, I do not know.

Under such circumstances, the only approach is to try to tell the truth to the reality-based folks.
