Can we...just accept that we suck at this?
I want to tell you a story that has made me kinda hopeless about Twitter's ability to affect positive things happening, and it starts with this tweet from Hillary Clinton.

very good summary of how Metro Government and Metro Council have been aware of this looming issue for quite some time and acting "blindsided" just shows that they have been neglecting their duty here
It's budget season. And we are asking for Metro to invest in traffic calming in 2024 -- to make neighborhoods, business districts, and parks safer for everyone.
S4P is proposing a $5 million allocation for traffic calming.

The Jones Act helps stabilize the nation’s maritime industry. It facilitates some 650,000 jobs across our vast system of shipyards, ports and waterways and adds $150 billion annually to our economy.
@hyperplanes The problem is that this doesn't save time and doesn't result in more cumulative learning. It just created a situation where a bunch of motivated kids spent the year before college not really doing anything, which in hindsight seems kinda not great
@hyperplanes This was possible because middle school had an "advanced math" track that was the equivalent of Algebra 1 so you could jump straight into Geometry freshman year. And some people took precalc in the summer at a local university so they could do AP calc junior year
@hyperplanes The problem is that city planners have devolved responsibility for designing new roads to developers so nothing ever takes The Big Picture into account
BREAKING: Indiana SB 52 is dead. House Speaker Todd Huston says there is an agreement with IndyGo to incorporate more general-purpose lanes of traffic while the Blue Line project moves forward. SB52 would have effectively killed the Blue Line project.
@mikedwyerwrites @GoodsonWen71708 @KimDwyer_SSW@robmolou @mikedwyerwrites I do appreciate your thoughts in general. I was in a sassy mood Friday night, so I apologize for the perhaps aggressive QT. You raise some totally fair points, & there's a lot of things I'd love to respond to but I also don't really want to write a novel here ha
No, it's actually literally the lack of bike lanes. 🤣
Love my "unappealing, niche hobby" that gets me to work, out to see friends, or to go shopping, that saves me thousands of dollars per year on gas, insurance, and parking, and that helps keep me fit and healthy. 😎
@robjceo@cityresearch This, 100%. It is staggering that the bike lane advocates would complain about aggrieved vocal minorities.
I know maybe five adults in the city that bike regularly. The rest of us don't bike because it's an unappealing, niche hobby, not because of a lack of bike lanes.
@mikedwyerwrites @GoodsonWen71708 @KimDwyer_SSW@robmolou I would agree that transit is more important than bikes, and I think you'll find that most pro-bike infrastructure folks would tend to agree!
