💜Self-care is not selfish. Nor does it have to cost a dime.
Here are several fun, calming, and practical tips to give yourself some emotional space.
• Taking a walk in nature is one of my favorite free self-care activities. The fresh air and beautiful scenery help me clear my mind and help me recharge.
If you can't get outside, try videos, ASMR videos (proven to slow down our heart rate), or even museum tours. #naturelovers
• Spending quality time with a good book is my go-to self-care routine. It's a perfect way to escape reality, relax, and expand my imagination.
Books will always be my personal safe space. #bookworm
• Cooking a healthy meal from scratch not only ensures I nourish my body but also provides a therapeutic outlet for creativity. Plus, it's much cheaper than takeout.
(I may not be a great cook, but I do enjoy the prep.) #homecooking
• Dancing like nobody's watching is a fun and freeing form of self-care for me. Cranking up the tunes for an impromptu dance party can shake all those cobwebs free.
I often grab my AirPods to break up the day with 5-minute dance parties. Nobody is watching. And I get more steps in = win/win. #dancing
• Journaling/Writing down what's happening in your life: emotions, reactions, thoughts, experiences, and traumas can help you work through whatever is bothering you -
(I usually have to write it down to figure it out). Writing saved me. #writing
• Spending time around water can be incredibly calming. Not a swimmer? Take a bath or shower.
Running your hands under the cold tap helps ground yourself. Listening to a wave machine if the beach is out of the question. #water
• Hiring a coach (performance, life, trauma) will help you identify what's working and what's not. Everyone needs a good coach, right? You deserve the help, and most are extremely affordable. #coaching

• Saying NO and sticking to it. Creating and enforcing your boundaries is the ultimate form of self-care. You can be a good person with a kind heart and still say no. #boundaries

"Many of us are willing to extend a helping hand, but we’re very reluctant to reach out for help when we need it ourselves. It’s as if we’ve divided the world into “those who offer help” and “those who need help.” The truth is that we are both."
