The plan was to set up a lush bamboo grove at the Bhalswa landfill, Delhi’s infamous garbage mountain, marking its transformation into a “green zone”.
A five-acre reclaimed site was selected and thousands of bamboo saplings were planted on March 4, 2025, in a drive led by the former lieutenant governor and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
More than a year on, however, the site has a 30-feet high garbage mound and, everyday, municipal vehicles can be seen adding truckloads of garbage to it.

"Misfortunes never come singly."
At a time when the BJP is already facing flak from urban voters over many controversial policy decisions and political high-handedness, Delhi Deputy CM Parvesh Verma slapped a man asking questions about poor road quality.
We’ll inevitably hear excuses about how the guy was an AAP plant or acting aggressively, but it doesn't matter. AAP-affiliated or not, every citizen has the right to question public officials. Secondly, as an elected representative, your duty is to exercise restraint and maintain composure, regardless of provocation, if any.
He must apologize without any ifs and buts.

VIDEO | PTI Exclusive: Gurugram hit-and-run victim Sia (Shivani Chauhan) speaks on the mahapanchayat being held in support of accused Kalyan Bainsla, says, "I don't understand this at all. Whatever is being done, is just to change the narrative. It is not about the community, where they belong or the state. Something wrong happened to me on the road, and it can happen to anyone. It is not about a female or male rider. Anyone can lose their life. We are taking a stand so that such incidents can be prevented in the future. It hurts me when we divide wrongdoings on the basis of community. When this incident happened, I did not know his name, where he belonged or his caste. This is not about caste. All these things being done to change the narrative are illogical. If we do not take strict action today, we will be responsible for leaving people free to kill others on the road."

MDR on UPI will apply from Oct 15 onwards, but he made a video yesterday to argue against it.
MDR will apply to transactions above ₹2,000, but he bought a 30-rupee ice cream to claim that there will be no MDR on such transections, something people already know.
The ice cream vendor is a merchant in this case (as seen on his QR code at the 9-second mark), but he is calling it a P2P transaction.
There is going to be MDR on P2M transactions above ₹2,000. That's a fact. You don't need to create a gimmick video to make an argument against that.
The real issue people are angry about is that this cost will trickle down to consumers. That's common sense. That happens all the time. So the real test will be regular people sharing their experiences after Oct 15 on P2M transections above ₹2,000, and certainly not big-brained party spokespersons like Pradeep Bhandari, who can always tie up with businesses to make them say they'll pay the MDR while filming their video.
Also, I'm sure some people will twist my argument by claiming I'm supporting the Congress narrative. No, I'm just expressing my concern. If Congress is raising the same concern, that's not on me. Congress is a curse to India, and Rahul Gandhi becoming the PM of India would be devastating for the country. There, I said it again.
The most expensive part of a hospital bill may never touch the hospital at all.
A patient admitted for care has no way of knowing whether the price on a medical consumable reflects its actual cost or a markup fixed long before it ever reached the ward. That gap in information is, at its core, a public health issue.
A survey of hospital consumables in Maharashtra found an IV infusion set with a trade price of ₹11.05 carrying a printed MRP of ₹325 ; a markup of 2,841%. A syringe procured at ₹6.75 carried an MRP of ₹57.20. A catheter procured at ₹29.41 carried an MRP of ₹310.
These are not elective purchases. Patients cannot compare prices, seek alternatives, or question a number printed on a box while receiving care and the MRP itself is often fixed upstream by manufacturers and distributors, disconnected from the trade price by a wide, unexplained margin. The result is a system where the party bearing the cost has the least information to evaluate it.
The regulatory gap is structural: scheduled medicines are capped under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. Most medical devices and consumables are not leaving both the pricing and the information around it almost entirely unmonitored.
A review of these findings and clear guidelines on the permissible gap between trade procurement price and declared MRP have been recommended to the Department of Pharmaceuticals and the NPPA ; a step toward closing not just a pricing gap, but the information gap patients are left to bear alone.

Seems the Centre is misjudging the public mood right now. Why else introduce a fee on UPI and make things worse for your own standing?
Sure, running UPI costs money, no one expects it to be entirely free. But the cash-heavy system we had before cost significantly more. In reality, UPI saves the govt far more money than it takes to maintain.
Think of it like this: You used to pay ₹1,500 a month to ride a crowded bus. Then you switched to the metro, which costs only ₹800 a month. Instead of being happy that you're saving ₹700 every month and getting a better ride, you start complaining about spending ₹800. That’s exactly what’s happening here. The govt is complaining about the visible maintenance cost of UPI while completely ignoring the massive savings and value it has gained.
By shifting millions of transactions online, UPI reduced tax evasion, boosted compliance, and expanded the formal economy. It slashed cash-handling costs like printing, transport, and security, while ensuring cleaner, leak-proof welfare payouts. Its digital trail suppresses black money and fraud.
So why ruin one of the most successful systems India has ever built? The claim that merchants will absorb the cost instead of consumers is absurd. There isn't a single fee or tax levied on businesses in India that doesn't ultimately get passed down to the buyer. A 0.4% fee, even capped at ₹300 per transaction, will simply be tacked onto consumer bills, driving people right back to using cash.

But sure, global media has no agenda. They’re apparently just very passionate about Indian two-wheelers.

Congress has filed a complaint against our website and two more handles at a Karnataka police station.

If they are displaying this level of authoritarianism while in opposition, imagine what they would do if they ever came to power.
There’s a reason our parents rejected Congress 12 years ago and have continued to vote against them ever since.
26 August, 11:58 PM. I was with my family when this incident happened on Raghunathpur Bridge in Bhubaneswar. This vehicle came towards us extremely aggressively, driving on the wrong side of the road with its high beam on.
The intense glare completely blinded me for a moment, leaving me with almost no visibility. This combination of reckless driving and high-beam glare could easily have resulted in a fatal accident. Thankfully, I managed to avoid a collision, but it was extremely dangerous, especially with my family with me.
Requesting @cpbbsrctc@dcpbbsr@DCP_TRAFFIC@odisha_police to please examine the footage, identify the vehicle, and take appropriate action against such dangerous and irresponsible driving.
Driving on the wrong side with high beam at night is not a minor violation, it can cost lives.
