A 18-year-old student at Klein Forest High School in the Klein Independent School District (ISD) is currently wanted by police for allegedly orchestrating a cyber attack that disrupted state-mandated STAAR testing for thousands of students. The student is accused of using a school-issued Chromebook to launch a major cyberattack that caused internet disruptions across all campuses in the district on April 16 and 17. This incident affected the English Language Arts (ELA1/Reading) test on the first day and resulted in about 3,000 students being locked out of testing. On the second day, approximately 700 students had to completely retake their STAAR tests due to the online disruption. In total, the number of students impacted by the disruptions to the district’s internet service across both days was 24,279.

Today’s highlight is LlamaFS - a self-organizing file manager 🦙🗃️
Given a directory of messy files (e.g. your ~/Downloads directory), it will automatically and reorganize the entire set of files into an organized directory structure with interpretable names.
It can “watch” your directory and intercept all FS operations to proactively learn how you rename files.
It’s powered by Llama 3. It’s also blazing fast with @GroqInc’s API, and there’s also a “fully local” mode with @ollama.
Huge shoutout to @AlexReibman, @swayingoak, @iyajainfinity, @AshwinHegd28838 for building this at the Llama 3 hackathon a few weeks ago.

As Apple celebrates 45 years today, I’m reminded of Steve’s words from many years ago: “It’s been an amazing journey so far, yet we have barely begun.” Thanks to every member of our Apple family for all you’ve done to enrich lives. Here’s to the next 45 years & beyond!
