263 DAYS IN DETENTION | JUSTICE, DUE PROCESS AND THE RULE OF LAW.
Today marks exactly 263 days since Malam Nasir El-Rufai (@elrufai ) has remained in detention.
In every constitutional democracy, the legitimacy of the justice system rests not merely on its ability to investigate allegations or hold individuals accountable, but also on its commitment to protecting the fundamental rights of every person.
The presumption of innocence, the right to personal liberty and the right to a fair hearing are not privileges reserved for the popular, the powerful or the politically connected. They are constitutional safeguards that must be respected regardless of an individual’s political status or public record.
Let it be clearly understood: demanding due process is not an argument against accountability. Anyone accused of an offence must answer to the law, but the process must be lawful, transparent and fair. Accountability without due process undermines the very principles that give justice its legitimacy.
After 263 days, the public deserves clarity, and the legal process deserves urgency. The relevant authorities must ensure that his fundamental rights are respected and that proceedings are conducted without unnecessary delay.
The true strength of the rule of law is demonstrated not by how the state treats its allies, but by whether it upholds the rights of every individual, including those with whom it disagrees.
Justice must be impartial. Human dignity must remain non-negotiable.

Update VIII: In the name of Allah SWT, the most Compassionate, the most Merciful. As part of the ongoing Community Development initiatives by our team, the second phase of the provision of nine (9) solar-powered boreholes has been successfully completed across the Constituency. It will be recalled that the first phase of the project was completed over 2 years ago, with the provision of two solar-powered boreholes serving communities around Yan Ganda, Bakin Dogo, Unguwar Shanu, and 'Yan Awaki, Kawo, Kaduna.
The provision of these water facilities is aimed at improving access to clean and reliable water, thereby enhancing the living conditions, public health, and overall well-being of residents in the beneficiary communities.
The eighth of the nine (9) communities that benefited from the second phase of the water supply project is in Saminaka Road, Unguwar Kanawa/Hayin Banki Ward.
With the completion of this phase, a total of eleven (11) communities have benefited from the provision of solar-powered boreholes under this initiative. This intervention represents a continued effort to address the water needs of residents and improve access to essential social amenities across the Constituency.
The project underscores the importance of community-focused development initiatives in providing essential infrastructure, promoting public health, and improving the quality of life of residents.

Today marks exactly 262 days since Malam Nasir El-Rufai @elrufai has remained in detention.
Behind every passing day is a family waiting, loved ones hoping, and people who continue to ask when justice will take its course.
It is painful to watch time pass while questions about liberty, due process and a fair hearing remain at the centre of public concern.
No human being should be made to feel that justice is beyond their reach. Accountability and respect for fundamental rights must go hand in hand.
We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for fairness, dignity and a timely judicial process.
262 days is a long time. May justice not remain a distant hope.
