Atiku’s plan to restore the fuel subsidy does not mean allowing importers to bring in fuel while the government regulates prices and bears the difference. No. This time, Nigeria will sell crude oil to our local refineries at a discounted price, enabling them to provide cheaper fuel to Nigerians.

We will also control exports by putting strict guardrails in place to ensure that Nigeria does not end up subsidizing fuel for other African countries. Petroleum product exports, whether by sea or land, may be handled exclusively by the Dangote Group( for example) under proper government supervision.

Nigeria will enjoy affordable fuel while exporting petroleum products at appropriate international prices. It is simple mathematics: take the subsidy windfall away from governors and budget padders and return it to the Nigerian people.
