Completely baseless and purely performative. If this is the kind of material newspaper editors are greenlighting these days, it is no wonder that print journalism is on its last legs. Rage bait for rage baits sake, take a redner would ye.

What's so bad about this is - that it was flagged by department of Foreign Affairs in committee meetings and by the ministers that its first time we’ve held a presidency with Irish as an official working language.
And Sinn Féin didnt know?
@RickoftheBraid@squinteratn I can accept that yes they could be considered or likely are a victim in majority of cases but also my point remains, by increasing the age we risk increasing the number of those 13 yr old victims of exploitation. That age group becomes a more valuable commodity.
@tonymcg76@squinteratn There is correlation and the same will happen here. The answer is not making children more vulnerable by raising the age, it’s how we deal with them through the criminal justice system that needs review. With no consequence there is no deterrent to either individuals or groomers
@tonymcg76@squinteratn Look I’m glad we can be civil anyway. My point is increasing the age of criminal responsibility will lead to the increase of that exploitation, which makes children less safe. Sweden is a case study, a doubling of the number of kids used by OCG’s. I’m not ok with that.
@tonymcg76@squinteratn You’re just deflecting from my point as you tried to make a smart comment. It’s ok to be wrong on this, I’m happy to be proven wrong. https://t.co/bDiGaxHlVl
@tonymcg76@squinteratn And I’m saying if 10-14 year olds are not deemed responsible for the crime they commit as an individual then they will become more valuable to OCG’s, they will be groomed and used almost exclusively for all the dirty work. I’d argue they would be safer in the justice system.
@tonymcg76@squinteratn I agree, that doesn’t address the question I asked regarding my take on the issue? Does increasing the age of criminal responsibility also increase the risk to vulnerable kids being used by organised crime and becoming an extremely valuable asset to OCG’s?
Raising the age for criminal responsibility will make kids between 10-14 the most valuable asset to any organised crime gang. They will be forced to do all the dirty work and warned to keep quiet as there will be no consequence. Why do we have so many morons running this place?
Tackle the cause... Adults, including some politicians have been spreading mistruth and anti-migrant/asylum seeker rhetoric for the past few years. Why don't you start there??
Qs for you Steve, why does your party leader want to use deadly weapons on kids??
@drorfh Jeez, sorry for my chromosomes I guess, I like to try and be as civil as I can be on here even when I can’t agree with someone about something, most of the time I don’t bother engaging. Both misandry and misogyny are two cheeks of the same arse.
It would also mean vulnerable kids will be even more at risk from drug gangs using them as mules knowing zero repercussions if caught. I’m sure as the very clever drug researcher that you are that you would be well aware of the dangers of that.
@drorfh Without your utopian vision on a legalised and controlled drug policy happening first then criminal responsibility is the only deterrent for both kids getting involved and gangs grooming them to become involved. 2/2
@drorfh Safe supply and decriminalisation are not the same as legalisation, the main benefit is reserved for crime statistics and prison populations, safe supply will save lives which would be great if the addiction can also be treated. I’ve no desire to see kids criminalised but 1/2
@drorfh Any examples of a functioning society where heroin and crack are legal and accessible to the masses? Half the country are on anti depressants, do ya think some of those might not be tempted to give the ol heroin a try if they can pop into boots for it?
