I really would like to see the evidence saying a typical American diet is more ecologically prudent than a vegetarian diet.

Healthy food, plumbing, clean electricity, internet, heating are the standards. We don't need 2000 sq ft houses for a family of 3. We don't all need personal motorvehicles.
