Software engineer working on database tools for Oracle Cloud. My family is my life. I like tinkering/technology/art/games in my free time.

NEW POST ALERT!!!
In honor of all my friends and colleagues sharing knowledge at Kscope26 this week:
Build Tools That Speak to Data in OCI
https://t.co/Ncly6SqY2M
This is a post about bridging the gap between two worlds, data science and relational databases in the cloud.
NEW POST ALERT!
In 2026 the Database Tools team introduced a new data plane that enables many ways of interacting securely with a database in Oracle Cloud over HTTPS.
I wrote about using the new CLI to execute SQL statements here.

It sounds like there is still some work in progress on the LLM-related utility so for now just supporting llms.txt and llms-full.txt blindly / without much evidence to support their existence. It's all automated anyway so low effort to add or remove at this point.
On the new blog design, 100%. I'll take it. Posts with images are also not scoring badly, actually but of course take a small hit.
My goal on the new design was "keep it simple", no JS libs, favor CSS and HTML, help the scrapers and LLMs where feasible (a'la GEO).
For GEO, every pages is rendered in 2 flavors: HTML and Markdown. Pre-rendering content as markdown should boost LLM accessibility significantly, or for users that want to copy/paste context to prompts.
(i.e. Markdown link under every post)
The team is on fire today! Here is a great post shared by my colleague Nikhlesh.
This allows for the real user identity to propagate to the database using OCI Database Tools connections and IAM with Oracle Database (instead of a generic database user.)

Check out this new tutorial by my colleague Simon, showing off some of our new MCP features including OAuth client registration and Codex setup.
Note, the example is geared for a Linux-ish environment and shows a lot of the command-line interface too!

I wrote about using IDCS roles to customize end user access to MCP tools using the new Database Tools MCP server in OCI.
If interested, as always, I appreciate your readership and your constructive feedback on the post. Check it out! 👇

A zero-install, enterprise-grade, MCP server for the Oracle Database landed in OCI and it is free to use! This intro from @thatjeffsmith and @krisrice does a great job explaining the OCI Database Tools MCP Server at a high level.

AI is only as good as what it knows. For Oracle Database, that's been a problem. Built a library of 100+ practical guides to fix that — covering everything from PL/SQL to ORDS to migrations. Open source, MIT license. https://t.co/LtXjF8UmvT
Nobody has all the answers. That's OK. Keep pushing forward. Make the best choices for today that you can.
Like logging in to OCI and learning about DBTools connections and private endpoints. 🤓

Happy Wednesday!
We shipped a new type of OCI resource principal called Database Tools Identity. It gives schemas a way to have distinct resource principals. You can read all about it here or check the documentation linked in the post.

Came to share cloud learnings, stayed to volunteer.
You are looking at the new Vice President of the Web Development and Cloud SIG of @FranklinU 's student ACM chapter. 🫡
