Seeing all the presentations put together is so fulfilling. They all build off of each other in various ways 👌. Love seeing our counterpart @ICONic__project focus on the other portion of biomass use. Reusing all parts of biomass to avoid waste #CircularFarm @IdeasCongress
💥**Potential Collaboration Alert**💥Did you know that to create biofuel you can use residual crops? This would be a great way to collaborate with the crop residues group and work towards creating a #CircularFarm with the @ideascongress class!
With only a week left until final presentations, we are hard at work at creating our final executive summary and our circular economy puzzle piece! ✨‼️ We can't wait to see it all come together and finally connect with the other groups in our #CircularFarming @IdeasCongress
Did you know that in the UK, biofuels are almost exclusively produced from used cooking oil? They produced around 62 million litres of biodiesel in 2020 alone! Us Canadian's could find some use in their method, just something to think about. 👀@IdeasCongress #CircularFarm
Our group has been hard at work trying to make our final presentation clear and concise. Starting to work on our executive summary and how the puzzle piece concept between our group and other groups such as Fossil Fuel 1 or Crop residues will pan out @IdeasCongress #CircularFarm
Things are finally coming together! excited to share our ideas and plans for biofuel implementation with our class and community partner!! 🌽👩🌾 #CircularFarming @IdeasCongress
Finally glad to be on the other side of the “pit of despair” as @shoshanahjacobs and @DrDanielGillis from the @ideascongress class would say‼️ Our group is so thankful that we are trusting the process 🌽#CircularFarm
During our research of biofuels, we have discovered some undesirable effects. One issue is its changes to land use patterns that could increase GHG emissions, pressure on water resources, and increase food costs. #CircularFarm @IdeasCongress More info: https://t.co/4JBNKL0zU4
The days after the @IdeasCongress class has just been about reflecting on our solutions and choosing the one we think is most feasible for experienced farmers to build a #CircularFarm. We recently decided to focus our efforts on using cover crops as a way to make biofuels.
So true! We loved hearing everyone’s ideas and getting feedback. So excited to work on some potential upcoming collaborations 👏👏👏 #CircularFarming @IdeasCongress
Also, there’s so much group work involved, but the environment isn’t competitive, its nurturing. We all feel supported and are supportive of each other, because we’re working towards a common goal. Wholesome classroom environment! 🤍 @IdeasCongress
Thank you to all the other groups participating in the @IdeasCongress class for the amazing feedback! All of your input is helping us create a #CircularFarm. We appreciate your help💟
After multiple discussions, feedback sessions, and research, we have decided on biofuel via cover crops‼️ Some exciting next steps are coming for us as we dive deeper into this solution!
Check out this article outlining cover crops for biofuel

farms to reduce fossil fuel use, and to make solid materials such as concrete. They are also researching future uses such as in the textile industry and in producing aviation biofuels derived from microalgae. Amazing stuff! #CircularFarm @IdeasCongress

Just like CERT, a Toronto-based CO2 recycling project, Japan is building its own to reduce emissions and to produce electrical energy. They mention that recycled CO2 serves many purposes including use in chemicals like polycarbonates, to generate biofuels, which can be used on
Biofuel has been adopted by many farms across the globe as solution for reducing fossil fuel usage and improving their carbon footprint. ⛽️
This is one of the many solutions our group has in develop a #circularfarm. @IdeasCongress
Read our latest issue with a focus on the true cost of food -- covering blue food assessment, GHGe from animal and plant foods, agrobiodiversity index scores, affordability of sustainable diets for poorer minorities, forced labor in food systems, and more.
🗣️Through the critical feedback assignment our group was able to identify gaps in our knowledge!🗣️
This is helping us narrow down our solutions to work towards creating a #circularfarm 🌽with the @IdeasCogress class🌻
Biochar has been circulated for years as a solution to sustainable farming - you may be asking why hasn't it been implemented more?
One word group 1 learned - altered soil pH which can't be resolved without removing the soil‼️‼️
