We lost the 90th Australian to violence yesterday. Last night police attended her home in Footscray, Victoria, to do a welfare check. Today the homicide squad is investigating. No one is charged. Police are seeking witnesses and CCTV or dasham footage.
She is the 90th woman killed in 2024 and the 11th woman killed in November.

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, marking the start of the 16 days of Activism.

In 2023 every 10 minutes globally a woman is killed by a partner or family member. In 2022 the rate was one woman killed every 11 minutes. 1 minute matters.

This increase in rate of women killed equates to:

💔 13 more women killed every day
💔 92 more women killed every week
💔 398 more women killed each month
💔 4,773 more women killed in a year

Every life matters. There is #NoExcuse. This is a global crisis.
