the first usage of the term was in the 1920s by black women in harlem. its first usage to refer to lesbians was in the book by carl vechten, called “n*gger heaven” in which he speaks about black lesbians in harlem. it was then in the 60s when white people used it as a slur
this included white sapphics, who used it against black lesbians and also lower class lesbians but that was majority black lesbians in that time anyway. you are supporting the erasure of black history and the so called lesbians you claim you care about
@coleiscool19 that makes sense! my friend felt a bit upset because she’s often seen as aggressive and it’s usually subconsciously or consciously related to her accent or skin tone, so i wanted to clarify things on both ends. i am glad you want to do that, all the support is needed, thank you
@coleiscool19 i was given, because i’m aware that tonality can be mixed and misunderstood, especially when autism is in the mix. and even more so when trauma triggers are in the mix. i’m very sorry for that, i myself and my friend have been in abusive situations and we both work closely with
@coleiscool19 i don’t blame you for anything, but she did clarify to you that she wasn’t trying to be condescending or mocking. i would also interpret it negatively but she did try to explain that that was not the intent behind it
@coleiscool19 the other person i don’t know, but the one with the citation was truly not acting with bad faith, nor was she trying to mock. you don’t have to believe that if you don’t want to but she was just being light hearted because it’s a heavy topic. admittedly she was a bit annoyed at
@gothicloustat@itadoriics i agree, policing victims language is not necessarily helpful but are bigotry, stereotypes, & profiling acceptable to make victims feelings valid? we would not be tolerant of victims calling for the eradication of black people, or wheelchair user, or spreading misinformed agendas
@ki5umi@full404sun up for them and accept that some people may never forgive them. i personally think the way it was all handled was terribly done. i just hate how people act like psychosis is the issue or the evil person disorder when people who experience psychosis are largely victims vs perps
@miumiujockstrap no shade but if i had to redo my entire catalogue and adjust everything bc of a criminal and a dud who’s currently going thru psychosis id shoot everyone like they’re genuinely so patient and committed and the least we can do is give them all the love and support we can
@ki5umi@full404sun as you said with kanye, his bipolar made his actions to an extent “understandable” but ultimately he should be held accountable for the harm he did especially with such a platform. i can’t pass judgement on someone in psychosis to make the right choices but i hope that they make+
