I’ve never really been outraged by entitlement spending, but the support I’ve long felt for programs like Social Security is waning as TFR drops. It’s one thing to say that we’re all in this as a society, but it’s quite another for me to spend the prime of my life raising multiple kids so that you can hang out at brunch and vacation in Europe, but then you expect my kids to pay for your retirement, too.
“we will pay any price….to assure the success and survival of liberty.” Is this still true? Do we prize liberty or do we prize power and purse? No more clear test than the choice between Ukraine and Russia. Abandon Ukraine and we abandon liberty. Eventually even our own.
Boomers just got a 3.6% inflation adjusted raise in social security benefits
Meanwhile everyone else just had the 6th straight month of negative real earnings
Despite this all you will hear about is how tough 'fixed income' is for boomers while we're literally getting poorer
@GalacticVoyage4@wholemars I doubt it. I don’t think they would have pushed so many point releases for 14.3 if they were working on 14.4. They’ve squeezed what they can out of v14, onward to v15.
@DrChrisCombs Yes, but not for a while, and return capability will take even longer. Earth reentry from Mars is going to be very high-energy and will place extreme demands on the heat shield. I’d expect inspection/replacement of tiles on Mars and maybe an upgraded heat shield.
@barrettfitz I was just in the Sky Club and saw plenty of medals, but I missed the Normatec boots. That’s impressive.
You should ask if they ran the 5K then act dumbfounded when they explain that a marathon is not a 5K
@DastDn The United States firebombed Tokyo and dropped two atomic bombs in Japan. I guess they didn’t want peace either!
^^Sarcasm, in case that’s not obvious
@ChadMoran At this point, FSD is much better on city streets on than on highways/high-speed roads simply because it can't make insane lane choices and passing decisions there.
Every single borderline-unsafe moment I have with FSD is because it would rather pass than get in the exit lane.
@lymanstoneky I think it's just cope to avoid admitting that Social Security's problems are structurally inherent, have been locked in for decades by demographic trends, and that we did nothing to address them. If someone stole it, then there might still be a magical solution.
