Texas has the chance to make a hydrogen economy feel like a breeze 🌬️
With so much wind and solar energy in Texas and a strong hydrogen infrastructure, engineers can use it to produce clean hydrogen for a cheaper price.
Tap below to learn how we can lead in a hydrogen economy.
Hey everyone! I’m excited to announce that I have been appointed to the City of Austin Electric Utility Commission!
Thank you Councilmember @NatashaD1atx for the chance to serve! I am looking forward to helping keep Austin on the path to a clean and resilient energy future!
A total solar eclipse will pass over the ERCOT region on Monday, April 8, 2024, between approximately 12:10 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. CDT. ERCOT has been proactively working on forecasting models to reflect reduced solar power production (similar to a sunset and sunrise in the middle of the day) and does not expect any grid reliability concerns during the eclipse. ERCOT will continue to monitor conditions and keep the public informed through our communications channels.

The ERCOT fuel mix chart has been updated to include 2023!
A few thoughts:
- ERCOT is 40% carbon-free
- solar looking like wind circa 2010
- coal decline offset by wind + solar
- gas variability driven by gas prices
- wind & solar are not displacing gas at all
Check out our top 10 energy stories of 2023:

From June to September 2023, renewable energy saved Texans nearly $2 billion in avoided power costs, reduced water use, and emissions, according to a recent report released by @GridLabEnergy and @ideasmithsLLC. Learn more, check out the report ⤵ https://t.co/88aqnRXuje
More solar power could have lessened the impact of #WinterStormUri in 2021. @ideasmithsLLC@GridLab study shows 10 gigawatts of additional solar on the @ERCOT grid might have powered more than 1 million homes for crucial hours during the storm. Read more: https://t.co/vgBBQ7MZ16
Last week Texas voters approved controversial Prop. 7, which creates a subsidized lending program out of the PUC to benefit new gas plants, but new study finds additional solar resources would have powered >1 million homes for 4–8 hours/per day. https://t.co/H6s7CHBUR0 #txenergy
Hot off the (digital ;) press! @ideasmithsLLC ran an analysis for @GridLabEnergy and found that an additional 10 GW of solar during Uri would have provided enough power to turn on over 1 million Texas homes between 4 and 8 hours per day. Check it out!
Rhodes told Insider. "Not only are we setting demand records, but we're also setting solar demand records simultaneously. @BusinessInsider#ercot#TX#solar

Have you checked out the @ideasmithsLLC & @AdvEnergyUnited report on how to modernize Texas energy infrastructure? It was just released last week! #ERCOT https://t.co/878xcGSto4
Over the past five years, renewables have saved the average Texas ratepayer $200 a year, according to a report from @joshdr83, a research scientist at @UTAustin and non-resident fellow at CGEP.

New study by @joshdr83 & @txadvenergybiz shows that accelerating #transmission upgrades would save Texans $7 billion over 15 years. Too often, Texas can’t access its nation-leading clean #txenergy resources, which have been keeping the AC on and costs low. https://t.co/HO5j1XtUnT
@ideasmithsLLC’s new #ERCOT 2040 report emphasizes the importance of building new #transmission capacity in West & Central #Texas. Improved connections will reduce congestion & support high load growth in border areas with reliable power supply. #txlege
