Interested in PEACE and STABILITY processes in the HORN/EAST AFRICA REGION. HATE and GRIEVANCES took the driving wheels of our politics. Views are strictly mine
Amid the devastating drought affecting our communities across the country, I co-chaired yesterday the Global Leadership Roundtable on Food and Nutrition Security Crises with The Rt Hon Baroness Chapman (@JennyChapman), UK Minister of State for Development and Africa, joined by @WorldBank, the EU, the UN, and our partners to advance collective action and reinforce alignment following the activation of Somalia’s Preparedness Plan. We value the continued partnership.
Held discussions in Mogadishu with The Rt Hon @JennyChapman, United Kingdom Minister of State for International Development and Africa, and the accompanying UK delegation on the drought situation in Somalia and our response. We value the continued partnership with the UK. 🇸🇴🇬🇧
At #WEF26, I joined @Gavi and @GlblCtzn on Innovation at Scale: Health, Technology and Opportunity. From #Somalia’s perspective, scale requires government leadership, with partners aligned behind national systems and shared priorities.
Met with Dr. @ChrisJElias of the @GatesFoundation on the sidelines of #WEF26 in Davos to discuss sustaining immunization and polio eradication efforts in Somalia, and the important work we continue to do together. Strong partnerships remain key to protecting every Somali child.
Reached Davos, Switzerland for the @WEF Annual Meeting 2026, where world leaders convene to address pressing global challenges. Grateful for the warm reception from the Somali community in Switzerland. #WEF26#Somalia
I am not a campaigner, agitator for any specific ethnic group. That is not my specialty. Nor am interested in becoming an ethnic rights advocate.
My comment on the epidemic of corruption taking root among Somalis in Kenya was not about Somali-bashing.
And btw, am a full-blooded ethnic Somali - if that means anything at all.
Those who know, know.
Second, Rendille are not inferior to Somalis as you seem to be insinuating. So stop mocking them.
I don't subscribe to the idea of hierarchy of ethnicities, superior race, inferior race.
God made us all equal.
Happy New Year. ☺️
The entire world did.
The US has almost the entire world on salary. In just 30 years, they have given 1.3 trillion dollars in aid to the world.
That is the GDP of the whole of Ghana 16x, Kenya 12x, Nigeria 3x. They are the top donors to the United Nations, 28%.
They are the top donors to the WHO, around 15%. They are the ones with the largest financial commitment to the IMF, around 17%
They give money through bilateral relations, country-to-country, and multilateral solutions, such as the UN, WHO, IMF, etc.
80% of the money goes to things like education, healthcare, social development, etc.
They pay the largest of NATO's defence budget, aroud 70%, so Europe can be safe, project power, and keep the balance of geopolitical scale.
I could go on and on about how the entire world simply stands in line for US paychecks.
And that is why America feels it is the leader of the free world. They are paying for it, at the cost of their national treasury.
They are in debt, but they keep paying.
If the world wants America's interventionism to stop, let it bring as much financial stake to the international table.
In international politics, the one paying you is controlling you. You can't have one without the other.
This is why the US feels it can police the world. It is like guarding the enterprise they are paying for.
I sincerely thank the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers for approving the revised Central Bank of Somalia Law. I also commend the Governor of the Central Bank of Somalia and his team for their relentless efforts in this process. This important milestone strengthens financial stability, lays a solid legal foundation for reintroducing the Somali shilling, and supports sustainable national economic recovery. The revised amendments will now be submitted to Parliament for review and approval.
The Civil Society Summit 2025 officially concluded today, successfully wrapped up by @SONSA_NSA and @UNDPSomalia after a productive three-day convening of ideas, collaboration, networking, and dialogue. #CSSummit2025
The summit provided a platform to present and add contributions to the new Civil Society Strategic Engagement Framework, aligning with the overarching theme: “Operationalizing the Nexus Between Humanitarian, Development, and Peace-Building in Somalia.” Participants engaged in deep discussions around the HDP Nexus, emphasizing stronger coordination and collective action across diversity sectors.
Bringing together civil society actors, government representatives, donors, the international community, embassies, and other key stakeholders, the summit strengthened partnerships aimed at addressing national priorities and shaping a shared commitment to implementing the upcoming Strategic Engagement Framework.
The insights and outcomes generated over these three days have laid a solid foundation for continued cooperation and transformative progress toward Somalia’s stability and development.

“Humanitarian crises in Somalia are no longer one-off emergencies. They are part of a repeating cycle driven by climate change. If we want communities to withstand the next shock, we must move beyond temporary relief and invest in long-term, resilient solutions.”

Please watch the remarks delivered by H.E. @SalahJama, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, during the official opening of yesterday’s Somali Civil Society Summit 2025, taking place from 8–10 December in #Mogadishu, #Somalia.
In his opening address, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the alignment of the Summit’s discussions with the Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus, while highlighting the vital contribution of civil society to the National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025–2029).
He also underscored the historic role civil society has played during difficult times—stepping in to fill critical gaps in governance, earning the trust of communities, and often serving as key mediators when political tensions arise, consistently working toward peaceful solutions.

Somalia is moving into a new phase of reform, preparing for democratic elections, advancing development through the National Transformation Plan, and shifting from short-term fixes to long-term resilience, as I emphasized at the opening of the Somalia Civil Society Summit 2025.
Ambassador Riley met with Osman Moalim, Chairman of @SONSA_NSA to discuss the importance of political unity, credible elections, and the role civil society organizations play in democracy.
