Here’s a nice thing. The TV version of This Is Going To Hurt is all about the mental health of doctors, and culminates with the death by suicide of a junior doctor called Shruti (spoiler alert). There is a scene where a tree is planted in her memory, shot at Ealing Hospital. 1/3
RCS England Council Member Miss Nuha Yassin (pictured) is one of the surgeons performing robotic operations at Wolverhampton NHS Trust @RWT_NHS . You can read about it here https://t.co/e8vqeCDUXd
Can we also talk about how this puts off students from intercalating bc it means you have to live on this stupid amount for 2 years instead of 1… how are we meant to afford this??
And then the solution to this was just to remove points for intercalated degrees instead of increasing funding -and those who can afford to intercalate still get extra points at ST1 anyways? What was the point
1/This national campaign is to raise awareness about the recent changes in NHS dress code policy & highlight that wearing a headscarf in theatre is acceptable. Ultimately we hope to empower female, Muslim doctors & med students to enter careers in surgery! https://t.co/k6Sj2fbfMY
does anyone have any stats on Somalis with sickle cell/thalassaemia? Asking bc a family member is being tested for this but have never heard of Somalis with any of these disorders
Dido Hiding can try and eliminate foreign staff from the NHS. Does she know how many of us there are? Two shifts with all 'foreign' staff. I know because 'sorry there are no white doctors here' is the one response that always changes a racist patient/parents mind.
Dr. Anisa Ibrahim came to the U.S. at age six as a refugee from Somalia.
As a young girl, she was treated at Seattle's Harborview Pediatrics Clinic and dreamed of becoming a doctor. Now she leads the clinic as its medical director.
@LesterHoltNBC shares her story.
In Gaza, PTSD is non-existent.
It is not post-traumatic. It is chronically traumatic. The trauma is constant and relentless. It is "repetitive, ongoing and continuous", quoting the Palestine's Head of Mental Health Services Dr Samah Jabr.
10 days after bombings began in #Gaza, our teams still can't send in additional staff & supplies. Humanitarian needs are mounting, with over 1,000 wounded and many thousands displaced. It is long past time that humanitarian staff and humanitarian supplies are let in.
Palestinian Lives Matter.
"Both sides" talk is the Palestine-hating version of "All Lives Matter".
"Israel has the right to defend itself" is the Palestine-hating version of "Blue Lives Matter".
Pass it on.
Gaza hospitals are bursting at the seams, beds are being placed in the hallways. Remember that COVID is also raging in Gaza. Israel has destroyed roads leading to the hospitals. People are buried under rubble, both dead and alive. It’s a humanitarian crisis. A war crime.
