Building small Chrome extensions and automation tools that kill boring repetitive work - AI chat exports, seller order and inventory workflows, and the like. Sh
Shipped 2 Chrome extensions through Web Store review. The #1 rejection I keep seeing: keyword-stuffed descriptions flagged "Spam & Placement". Fix: describe ONE job in plain sentences, keep the "works with X/Gmail" list out of it. Free manifest checker: https://t.co/3lV1EL0QJ8
@thebadbadrobot Nice that it ships on both. Getting one extension through Chrome and Firefox is fiddlier than it looks. Did you need separate builds for the background part (service worker on Chrome, background scripts on Firefox), or does one manifest cover both?
@agispas DMing 20 users before building is the part most people skip, and it shows in 1,000+ installs for one button. 3 clicks to 1 is exactly the kind of fix a site never ships itself. Did any of the 20 ask for something you didn't expect?
@luisrocklu Keeping YouTube out of the take is the smart call, the mic track stays clean. Pitch and speed on the reference make it a real practice tool. Do you compensate for the mic's input latency when you stamp it to the playhead?
@princejain756 Congrats on the first Mac App Store launch! Entitlements set to false instead of removed is such a sneaky one, it builds fine and then dies at launch in review. Idling near 0% CPU for an audio app is a nice touch too.
@John43497285 Pre-scrolling for lazy images before measuring is the right order. One more that bites on long pages: captureVisibleTab is capped at about 2 calls a second, so a short wait between slices avoids the quota error.
@hjanuschka@omarchy@tobi Clean split. Keeping it to stdio plus a private unix socket with no localhost port or DevTools means nothing else on the box can poke at your tabs. The placeholder trick for peek is neat too. Thanks for the walkthrough!
@cipheranarchist@Google Glad it was just that one keyword. Annoying when it's the actual name of the thing, but mentioning it once usually gets through. Fingers crossed the new draft sails through, ping me if it bounces again.
@JackPickus Five rounds over a logo is rough. Apple is weirdly strict on that button. Using the system one (SignInWithAppleButton in SwiftUI, ASAuthorizationAppleIDButton in UIKit) sidesteps most of those rejections.
@avinash10x Congrats, first in your bloodline is a great line to get to write! A reviewer hitting the login right while the server was down is brutal luck. Built in Mumbai, shipped in Russian is a fun origin story too.
@technophysician Love small in-house tools like this, checking ASINs one by one is exactly the kind of work that should disappear. How does it know what's in the database, does it hit your sheet on each scroll or sync a list locally?
@NimeetShah Path rules by default makes sense: instant, and nothing leaves the browser. Nice touch keeping the hunk analysis opt-in behind your own key.
@vipinxtwt Makes sense to start with English. If you ever want a cheap test, localizing just the name and short description through _locales takes an afternoon and you can see which countries pick up.
