Nanite Programmable Path seems too costly to consider WPO for the most basic things... Uh, I don't like it.
Feels like everything I'm tempted to do as a tech artist is no longer an option. Moving vertices used to be cheap :(
So here's a hacky NO-WPO prototype 🧵
I've hacked together a pretty interesting little tool in Maya that helps me block out trimsheets faster for sculpting/detailing
I like to model trimsheets when I am creating them and when I am not constrained by layouts already assigned by the workflow, I like to experiment.
SH2 steps onto Xbox today.
Big moment for the team — and a 50% Xbox launch discount to mark it.
Excited to see the town through new eyes and new hardware. The fog rolls in again.

🥳 New video is out on my YT!
It’s a 1h20m deep dive into 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝘀.
I went a bit more in-depth than most UE tutorials out there — there’s a lot more to this topic than you might think! :D 🧵
Starting a small personal project and I thought I'd share the process here as I go long to keep up motivation :) Starting with the blockout - I tend to throw stuff in engine as soon as possible and throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks in terms of composition.
TIL ex "ben-ui" website is now called "unreal-garden" and it's a wiki (i think). Btw, if you didn't know about it, it's the best site for docs on #UE5 uproperties and other specifiers
I’m putting together a free VFX Starter Kit focused on trails in @UnrealEngine It’s for anyone starting out or just curious to see how I approach things. Here’s a look at the work in progress, planning to release it in my next newsletter. #VFXFriday#vfx#realtimevfx #madewithunreal

It's VERY common for sync (blocking) loading BP nodes to slip into a project, making it hitch.
A project should have ZERO of those in their projects in my opinion.
Finding them can be a challenge, so I made a validator to catch them in BPs early 👇 #uetips

I'm working on content for our mentored explosion course, which is scheduled for release in late April/May. Below are some examples of my progress in defining the visual style, detail levels and frame range. #realtimevfx#vfxfriday#EmberGen#vfx
#UE5#gamedev#indiedev#UETips#tutorial#vfx Psstt, couple of weeks ago I released my biggest project to date. It's 3 hours and a half long, it's free and you're pretty much guaranteed to learn something from it :)

Top 3 reasons your colleagues don't run the automated tests before submitting their changes:
1. They don't know how
2. It's not automated
3. They don't want to
While I can't help with 3., here is how you can solve 1. & 2. for your team with a custom toolbar button.
A thread 🧵
Hey everyone! Finished Part 1 of the campfire tutorial where I show you how to set up the Embergen sim and export your maps. Coming up next in Part 2, we'll play around with materials and get everything running in Niagara. 3D model provided.

@OutoftheboxP If you're using UE in a team where you're compiling it from source and maybe making modifications to it, you'll want to know when it's crashing for your team members. In that case you should collect the crashes yourself. You can see how here:
